πŸŽ… SET YOUR ALARMS... πŸŽ…

(Sharing on behalf of North Tyneside Participation)

In just ONE week, the easeINTO activities will start to appear on the booking system.

'From 10am on 18th November, the fun activities run by our brilliant providers will be available to book! These activities are fully funded for children on benefit related free school meals πŸ₯—'

If not already registered on the booking system, we recommend doing so asap so you are ready to go come Monday morning.

SEND Criteria

*There are a small number of free spaces available for children who are not eligible for income-related free school meals, these are called β€˜non-eligible’ spaces. The criteria for these β€˜non-eligible’ spaces includes:*

children with a special educational need or disability (SEND)
children in care
young carers
children on EHCP plans
children and young people from low-income working families
children and young people known to social care
children of refugees and asylum seekers
young people between 16 and 18 with SEND

If your child has a special educational need or disability (SEND), please make sure you fill in this information when you register on the booking system. Your child can then be approved to access non-eligible spaces.

If your child meets one of the other criteria for β€˜non-eligible’ spaces, we will need to know your child’s name, date of birth, and reason for eligibility before you register for an account. If you would like to be approved under one of these criteria please email easeinto@northtyneside.gov.uk to self-refer.

πŸ«‚ ANTI BULLYING WEEK - 10-14th NOVEMBER πŸ«‚

This week is Anti Bullying Week.

Every year, The Anti-Bullying Alliance is the force behind this campaign to raise awareness of Bullying, it's impact and importantly the support that is available.

We have shared their video below which emphasises this year's theme 'Change For Good' and the message that we all have our part to play in identifying and reporting bullying. This is vital in our SEND community as many of our children and young people are vulnerable and unable to communicate any threat or concern.

'1 in 3 young people being bullied suffer in silence' - A disturbing fact shared from the Kooth website. Kooth have recently teamed up with The Diana Award, a leading youth charity, to raise awareness of bullying and to encourage young people being bullied to tell a trusted adult and reach out for support.

There are lots of resources and online support available for children and young people via Kooth and their platforms. Check out their services and anti-bullying support here:

https://connect.kooth.com/kooth-and-diana-award-tackling-bullying-together

Specifically for our SEND community, Kooth's digital mental health service is uniquely suited to neurodiverse young people:

'Our text based chat support means no eye contact is needed, we are accessible at home, in private - no noisy waiting room or busy journey to make in order to talk to someone, and the asynchronous messaging between the young person and one of Kooth's mental health experts allows them to take time to consider how they express themselves.'
