A recent study brought to light some sobering truths: More than a quarter of older people are keeping their falls a secret.

🙁 Why? Because they don't want to be seen as 'vulnerable' or to burden their family.

These secrets aren’t just limited to falls. Other serious issues being hidden, include reduced mobility, changes in toilet habits, forgetfulness, and sleeping difficulties. Despite the intention to protect, the consequence of these secrets can be grave, as falls among the 65+ population cause over 22,000 emergency hospital admissions each year in the UK. 💔

It's a difficult conversation, we know. Yet, acknowledging the need for care and support in later life isn't a sign of weakness but a step towards ensuring safety and preserving dignity.

Let's all be proactive in having these sensitive conversations with the older people in our lives. We must ensure that no fall, no difficulty goes unnoticed or unaddressed.
