The practice is closed today as it is a bank holiday. The practice re-opens (Tuesday 7th April).
If you require treatment on the days that we are closed, you have a number of options:
• Contact GP Alliance 01942 482848 to arrange a pre-booked appointment. Wigan GP Alliance provide access to clinicians across the Borough of Wigan and Leigh for residents that require non-urgent treatment out of surgery operating hours.
• Contact NHS 111 for urgent telephone advice
• Contact 999 if you have a life threatening emergency only

April is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month, a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness of bowel cancer and funds to support our work.

We are delighted to announce that GM Chat Health as will go live for Wigan Borough residents on the 1st of April, 2026. Chat health is a new platform, a free, secure and confidential text messaging service that offers an alternative for people who may find it difficult to get help on the phone, online or face-to-face.

They are offering this as part of our ongoing commitment to reducing health inequalities and ensuring urgent mental health support is as accessible as possible to everyone in our communities.

The service will initially be available from 7am to 7pm, Monday to Sunday with a clinician responding to all messages within 4 hours, or early the next day (if received after 5pm). The service is being rolled out sequentially across all GM localities, and once all localities are live, they will aim to go to 24hrs a day, 7 days a week.

Here’s a breakdown of DNAs across our services:
🔹 Nurse – 56 missed appointments
🔹 Phlebotomist – 28 missed appointments
🔹 Healthcare Assistant – 24 missed appointments
🔹 GP – 28 missed appointments
🔹 Physio – 5 missed appointments
🔹 Advanced Nurse Practitioner – 3 missed appointment
📉 Total: 144 missed appointments compared to 155 in February
Please inform us if you can’t attend. Your support helps us offer appointments to those who need them.
