Here’s a breakdown of DNAs across our services:
🔹 Nurse – 69 missed appointments
🔹 Phlebotomist – 46 missed appointments
🔹 Healthcare Assistant – 2 missed appointments
🔹 GP – 32 missed appointments
🔹 Physio – 5 missed appointments
🔹 Advanced Nurse Practitioner – 5 missed appointments
📉 Total: 159 missed appointments compared to 215 in October

This week is World Antibiotic Microbial Awareness week. We wanted to share some useful on how antibiotics work and why at times they are not needed.
Dr Gemma Brierley is a G.P Partner at the practice and is the medicine management lead. Dr Brierley says” antibiotics do not treat viral infections for example Flu symptoms, covid, coughs and colds. We understand when you are unwell you want relief from your symptoms however taking antibiotics when they are not indicated will not relieve your symptoms but can result in antibiotics not working when you really need them.

Heading into Winter Cold and Flu symptoms can be unpleasant, however the recommended treatment is plenty fluids and paracetamol, antibiotics do not work to treat cold and flu symptoms. The best advice is to rest so the key message is to take care not antibiotics.

Ever wondered why the Doctor hasn’t issued Antibiotics? This week is world Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week which is an opportunity to understand what antimicrobial resistance is. Antibiotic resistance happens when bacteria change in response to the use of antibiotics making the drugs less effective or even useless against those bacteria.
When we overuse antibiotics or take them when they are not necessary we give bacteria more chance to adapt and resist.
