We’re pleased to be welcoming Claire from the NHS AAA Screening Programme as our guest speaker at our next Companion Café 💬

Claire will be chatting with us about AAA (Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm) — a simple health check offered to men aged 65+ that helps spot a swelling in the main blood vessel early, often before any symptoms appear. She’ll explain what the screening involves, why it matters, and answer any questions in a clear and reassuring way.
As always, our Companion Café is a relaxed and welcoming space to enjoy a cuppa, friendly conversation, and helpful information 💚

Our scheduled speaker has canceled this morning and cannot attend. However, we will be providing a talk on Social Care Funding at our usual time of 1-3pm at the Standard and Berystede Court.

We’re delighted to welcome Layla from Kooth & Qwell as our guest speaker at our next Companion Café 💬

Layla will be talking about mental wellbeing, the importance of looking after our emotional health, and the free, confidential support available for adults through Qwell. It’s a relaxed, friendly session with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and learn more about how support is available for you or someone you care about.

As always, our Companion Café is a welcoming space to enjoy a cuppa, meet others from the community, and take a little time for yourself 💚

We’re delighted to see our Companion Café featured in Wigan Todayas it moves to a new venue in Wigan 💫

The move is all about reaching more older people, creating connection, and offering a warm, welcoming space for conversation, support and community.

A community cafe aimed at supporting older and vulnerable people in Wigan is relocating to a new venue as part of efforts to attract more users.

This Thursday, we were delighted to welcome Pauline from the Alzheimer's Society to our Companion Café for an insightful and informative talk at our new venue, Berystede Court in Standish.

Guests gained a better understanding of the early signs of Dementia, how the condition can progress, and the practical ways individuals and families can seek support. Pauline also shared guidance on having open conversations, reducing stigma, and where to access trusted information and help locally.

We’d like to thank everyone who joined us and helped make the afternoon so welcoming — we’re really looking forward to hosting many more events at Berystede Court over the coming months ☕💜

Our next event will be held on Thursday, 5th February,y with our guest speaker Layla from Kooth & Qwell, who will be speaking about getting online access to mental health support via their services.
