Ready for a sneak peek? 👀

Adoption@Heart’s Family Patchwork Quilt is all ready for its first official outing at the Wolverhampton Fringe Festival.

Designed by local Black Country artist, Alex Vann, it’s made up of almost 300 patches from local children and residents and even four of the local Mayors.

We also asked our patchwork artists to describe what ‘family’ and ‘home’ mean to them. Around the border of the quilt, we have ‘stitched’ people’s responses, which are all so unique and heartfelt.

Come to St Peter’s Collegiate Church in Wolverhampton on the 28th, 29th and 30th of November to see it up close.

And please remember to tag us in any social media pictures of you and the quilt, as we’d love to see them!

From medieval legends to Mughal hunting coats, patchwork quilts reveal centuries of creativity and cultural history.

Quilting isn’t just about keeping warm; it’s a technique that has shaped clothing, celebrated life events, and preserved stories. From bed covers to padded garments worn under armour, quilts reflect both domestic life and professional artistry across the world.

Patchwork quilts involve sewing fabric pieces into a larger design. While it started in the domestic space, many historic patchwork quilts were made for storytelling and showing people’s daily lives and experiences.

Adoption@Heart’s Family Patchwork quilt tells the story of what ‘family’ and ‘home’ means to different people. With almost 300 patches, we’ve ‘woven’ a tapestry of individuals’ stories and preserved their memories like a digital time capsule.

Come see it for yourself on the 28th, 29th and 30th of November at the Wolverhampton Fringe Festival at St. Peter’s Collegiate Church.

Come see Adoption@Heart's Family Patchwork Quilt at the Wolverhampton Fringe Festival next weekend!

On the 28th, 29th and 30th of November, our art installation (curated by the brilliant Alex Vann) will be on show for the first time to the general public.

It's part of a stellar lineup of local artists celebrating the rich tapestry of cultural heritage in Wolverhampton.

The quilt will be found at St. Peter's Collegiate Church in the 'Light over Darkness' exhibition.

What does family mean to you? What makes a place feel like home?

Adoption@Heart is exploring these powerful questions through a stunning community art project — the Family Patchwork Quilt, featuring over 290 heartfelt contributions from local students, residents, and even the Mayors of Wolverhampton, Dudley, Sandwell and Walsall.

It will be officially launched tomorrow where the digital quilt — woven together by local artist Alex Vann — will be unveiled.

Here's a sneak peek of one of our many patches for the Adoption@Heart digital patchwork quilt.

Gary is profoundly Deaf and his preferred language is BSL (British sign language). He's included some of his favourite phrases on what 'family' and 'home' means to him and how to sign them.

Our online digital launch party for our patchwork quilt is fast approaching and we'd love for as many people to come along as possible.

It's on the 12th of November between 6.00 - 6.45pm and we'll be joined by the Mayor of Sandwell and the Mayor of Dudley to celebrate the grand unveiling.
