👍 Did you know thumbs aren’t fingers. They are digits, but not fingers and responsible for 50% of the function of our hands. A lot of work goes into the control of this important opposable digit. In fact, nine individual muscles, all of which are managed by three major hand nerves, control the thumb. You're welcome 🙌

❄️ February is Raynaud’s Awareness Month. Up to 10 million people in the UK are thought to have Raynaud’s, yet almost half of adults don’t recognise the symptoms.

At Manchester Hand Surgeons, we often see patients living with Raynaud’s alongside other hand and wrist conditions, such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

Raynaud’s (Ray‑nodes) affects the small blood vessels in the fingers, hands, toes, and feet, making them overly sensitive to cold temperatures and sometimes emotional stress.

🧤 Take this handy symptom check from Scleroderma & Raynaud's UK - SRUK to learn more.

When can I get back to driving after treatment? 🚙
After surgery, side effects can temporarily affect your judgement, movement, and reflexes. For safety, we recommend waiting at least one week before driving.
Mr Hinduja and Mr McLaughlin‑Symon will discuss this further at your post‑operative appointment.
