My lovely ex-client Lizzie has kindly given me a testimonial which gives an insight into what it’s like to have EMDR (click the link in the bio).
Accidents can leave more than physical injuries. Even when the body heals, the mind can hold on to fear, guilt, or vivid memories that make getting back to normal life feel overwhelming. People with PTSD are left with a strong fear that the something bad will happen again.
This is where EMDR therapy can help.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a structured therapy that helps your brain process traumatic memories so they stop feeling so raw, frightening, or intrusive. It doesn’t erase what happened — instead, it helps the memory settle into the past, so it no longer controls how you feel in the present.
Lizzie’s EMDR treated a PTSD developed after a horse riding accident but EMDR can treat many traumas from childhood bullying to abuse to being involved in a crime.
My office is in central Wilmslow and I am passionate about helping people rebuild their life and their strength following a trauma.
