This diagram shows the branches of the trigeminal nerve (CN V) along with nearby facial nerves. The sensory root splits into three major divisions: ophthalmic, maxillary, and mandibular nerves. The maxillary nerve supplies sensation to the cheeks, upper lip, nasal cavity, and upper teeth through branches like the zygomatic, palpebral, lacrimal, and superior alveolar nerves. The mandibular division carries both sensory and motor fibers, supplying the lower teeth through the inferior alveolar nerve, the tongue via the lingual nerve, and the chin through the mental nerve. Additional branches like the auriculotemporal and mylohyoid nerves support jaw movement and facial sensation. Together, these nerves allow chewing, facial feeling, and oral sensory functions.
