Random Acts of Kindness Day invites us to pause and consider the impact of small, thoughtful gestures. While kindness may seem simple, it can make a meaningful difference to someone’s emotional wellbeing. Even small moments of care can help people feel seen, supported and less alone.

Acts of kindness do not need to be grand or time consuming. Often, the most powerful gestures are the ones that feel genuine and personal. You may want to check in on someone who has seemed overwhelmed, offer encouragement to a friend who is going through a difficult time, or simply give someone your full attention when they are speaking. These moments can create connection in a way that supports both you and those around you.

If you are finding this time of year emotionally challenging yourself, it may also be helpful to extend some of that kindness inward. Taking a moment to rest, setting a small boundary, or acknowledging your own feelings with understanding can make a real difference to your wellbeing.

At Sereno Therapy, we support individuals who are navigating stress, low mood, anxiety, relationship difficulties and many other life challenges. If you feel that speaking to a trained therapist could help you understand your emotions more clearly or develop healthier ways of coping, we are here to support you.

Valentine’s Day can feel very different depending on what you are going through. While it is often presented as a celebration of love, many people find this time of year difficult, especially if they are coping with a recent break up, navigating relationship changes, or feeling unsure about their place in close relationships.

If you have felt a sense of sadness, pressure, or loneliness around this time, you are not alone. These responses are completely valid, and there is meaningful support available.

At Sereno Therapy, we offer counselling and Interpersonal Therapy to help you explore the emotional impact of relationships in a safe, supportive environment. These approaches can help you understand patterns, strengthen confidence, and develop healthier ways of relating to others.

You may benefit from therapeutic support if you recognise any of the following:

• Persistent sadness or distress following a relationship ending
• Feeling stuck in unhelpful relational patterns
• Difficulty expressing your needs or setting boundaries
• Feeling unsure of your identity outside a relationship
• Challenges forming or maintaining close connections

Working with a trained therapist can provide clarity, emotional support and practical tools to help you navigate this period with greater steadiness and self-understanding.

If you are finding this Valentine’s period challenging, or if you would like to explore how therapy could support you, our accredited therapists are here to help. Sessions are offered online, making it easy to access support from home at a time that suits you.

Panic attacks can feel sudden, overwhelming and frightening. Many people describe a strong rush of fear or discomfort that appears without warning, often leaving them unsure of what is happening to their body or mind. If you have experienced this, you are not alone, and support is available.

Panic attacks may involve symptoms such as a racing heartbeat, shortness of breath, shaking, dizziness or a sense of losing control. These sensations are very real and understandably distressing, but they are also treatable. Understanding what is happening can be the first step towards feeling more in control.

At Sereno Therapy, we help clients make sense of these experiences and learn practical skills to manage them more confidently. Through evidence based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and EMDR, clients develop strategies to reduce the intensity and frequency of panic attacks, address the underlying triggers and rebuild a sense of safety.

Therapy can support you to:

• Understand the cycle of panic and what maintains it
• Rebalance physical symptoms through grounding and breathing techniques
• Explore the thoughts and worries that may contribute to panic
• Build confidence in everyday situations that have begun to feel difficult
• Develop long term tools that support emotional steadiness

Panic attacks can be deeply unsettling, but with the right support, they can become far more manageable. Many clients find that therapy helps them regain confidence, reduce avoidance and feel more in control of their wellbeing.

If you would like to speak with one of our accredited therapists, you can learn more or book an appointment through our website.

Time to Talk Day is a reminder that conversations about mental health matter. Many people find it difficult to open up, especially during busy routines or when emotions feel complicated. But creating space to talk, even gently and slowly, can make a meaningful difference.

Talking about how you feel does not need to be perfect or polished. It can begin with a simple check-in, a brief message to someone you trust, or taking a moment to notice what you are carrying emotionally. Being honest with yourself is already a significant step.

Why these conversations matter

• Talking can reduce the sense of isolation that often accompanies anxiety, low mood or stress
• It helps you understand what you need and what might support your wellbeing
• It encourages connection, whether with a friend, family member or a professional
• It creates space to notice what feels overwhelming and explore ways to manage it
• It allows early support before difficulties become heavier to cope with

If you feel that talking to someone close to you is difficult right now, speaking to a trained professional can offer a safe and confidential place to work through your thoughts and emotions.

At Sereno Therapy, we offer online evidence based therapy including CBT, EMDR, Counselling, IPT and MBCT. Our therapists provide a calm, supportive environment where you can reflect, understand and begin to feel more grounded.

If you would like to explore whether therapy could help, you are welcome to contact us or book an initial appointment.

25/01/2026

As many people look for ways to improve their wellbeing at the start of a new year, creating space for self-care can be an important part of feeling more grounded, motivated and emotionally steady. Small and consistent steps are often the most effective, and building habits that genuinely support your wellbeing can make day-to-day life feel more manageable.

Below are a few ideas that may help you reconnect with yourself and restore balance:

1. Cultivate self-compassion
It is common to be hard on yourself when things do not go to plan, but self-criticism often increases stress rather than helping you move forward.
• Acknowledge mistakes without judgement
• Treat yourself with the same kindness you would offer someone else

2. Reclaim your time
Daily responsibilities can make it easy to overlook your own needs.
• Set aside a small amount of time for yourself each day
• Choose activities that feel calming or fulfilling, such as journalling or gentle movement

3. Celebrate individuality
Your personal strengths, preferences and quirks are important parts of who you are.
• Notice what makes you feel most authentic
• Engage in activities that allow you to express yourself

4. Create quiet moments
Modern life is full of noise and interruption, which can make it difficult to think clearly or reset.
• Reduce digital distractions for short periods
• Take brief pauses to reflect or breathe

5. Try a short guided meditation
A few minutes of stillness can help calm the mind.
Here is a simple ten-minute practice you may wish to explore:

At Sereno Therapy, we support clients in developing practical strategies that nurture wellbeing and emotional resilience. If you feel ready to begin therapy or would like guidance on the next steps, we are here to help.

Many people experience problems with sleep, and these difficulties can affect mood, concentration, energy levels and overall wellbeing. At Sereno Therapy, we work with clients who are struggling with disrupted sleep patterns and help them understand the factors that contribute to their insomnia.

Insomnia can involve difficulty falling asleep, waking during the night, early morning awakenings, or sleep that feels unrefreshing despite adequate time in bed. These patterns often develop gradually and can be linked to stress, anxiety, low mood or long-term health conditions.

Common signs of insomnia include:

• Trouble falling asleep
• Waking frequently during the night
• Difficulty returning to sleep
• Waking too early
• Feeling unrefreshed on waking
• Daytime fatigue or irritability
• Poor concentration
• Reduced motivation and mood changes

Sleep problems often occur alongside anxiety, depression, PTSD or chronic stress. Addressing insomnia can significantly improve emotional balance and day-to-day functioning.

How CBT can help

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) is an evidence-based treatment that focuses on the thoughts, habits and physiological responses that interfere with sleep. Our therapists work with clients to:
• Understand the factors maintaining insomnia
• Develop healthier sleep routines
• Reduce unhelpful patterns such as excessive worry at night
• Improve sleep quality through targeted behavioural strategies

Why choose Sereno Therapy

Our therapists are highly trained and experienced in working with sleep-related difficulties. We offer personalised CBT programmes that address both insomnia and the underlying emotional factors contributing to it. Because our service is fully online, you can access support from home at a time that suits your routine.

If you are finding that sleep difficulties are affecting your wellbeing, we are here to help.
