Spending time in nature can have a powerful impact on emotional wellbeing. Even small moments of noticing the world around you can help you feel more grounded, present and connected. World Wildlife Day is a reminder that the natural world is not only beautiful, but also deeply supportive for our mental health.

Engaging with the outdoors does not need to be complicated. Simple moments of awareness can help regulate stress, settle racing thoughts and bring a sense of calm into your day.

How nature can support your wellbeing

• Encourages slower, more mindful breathing which supports relaxation
• Helps reduce feelings of pressure and overwhelm
• Improves focus by giving your mind a gentle break from daily demands
• Creates moments of perspective when life feels busy or heavy
• Strengthens your sense of belonging and connection to the world around you

Ways to incorporate nature into your day

• Notice the sounds, textures and movement around you on a short walk
• Sit by a window and observe the light, weather or wildlife
• Spend a few minutes in a green space without distractions
• Bring natural elements indoors such as plants or flowers
• Try a brief grounding practice by focusing on the physical sensations beneath your feet

At Sereno Therapy, we often integrate mindfulness approaches into therapy to help clients reconnect with their environment and cultivate steadiness. Whether you are managing anxiety, low mood, stress or periods of transition, learning to pause and notice the world around you can be a valuable support.

If you would like therapeutic guidance tailored to your needs, our accredited clinicians offer CBT, EMDR, IPT, Counselling and MBCT online.

Many people find themselves managing ongoing stress, anxiety or low mood, even when life appears to be going well on the surface. Over time, these experiences can feel exhausting and difficult to shift, especially when patterns seem to repeat.

We have shared a new blog that explores how Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, often known as MBCT, can support emotional wellbeing in a gentle and practical way. MBCT brings together talking therapy and mindfulness practice to help people notice their thoughts and feelings with greater clarity and balance, rather than feeling overwhelmed or stuck in unhelpful cycles.

The blog explains how MBCT can help you
• develop a healthier relationship with difficult thoughts and emotions
• reduce stress and anxiety over time
• build emotional resilience and self awareness
• support long term wellbeing rather than short term coping

It also outlines what an MBCT programme involves and who it may be helpful for, particularly if you experience ongoing stress, anxiety or periods of low mood.

If you are curious about mindfulness or are looking for a structured and evidence based way to support your mental health, you may find this article helpful.

You can read the full blog here:

At Sereno Therapy, our MBCT programme is delivered online by experienced and accredited therapists. We also offer CBT, EMDR, Counselling and Interpersonal Therapy, all provided with care, professionalism and flexibility.

As we step into March, many people begin to notice a gentle shift in mood and energy. Longer days, lighter mornings and the early signs of spring can bring a sense of renewal, but this transition can also feel mixed if you have been finding winter difficult.

Spring can be a meaningful moment to pause, reflect, and gently reconnect with your wellbeing. Small changes introduced at this time of year can help you feel more grounded, motivated and ready for the months ahead.

Here are a few simple ways to support your emotional wellbeing as the season changes:

• Spend a little more time outdoors as daylight increases, which can help regulate mood and improve focus
• Re-establish routines that may have been disrupted during winter, such as regular sleep or time for movement
• Notice any shifts in how you are feeling and give yourself space to adjust at your own pace
• Reconnect with activities that bring you a sense of calm, purpose or enjoyment
• Reach out for support if you feel that winter has taken a toll on your emotional balance

At Sereno Therapy, we offer a range of evidence-based therapies, including CBT, EMDR, Counselling, IPT and MBCT, all delivered online for convenience and accessibility. If you feel that professional support could help you begin this new season with greater clarity and confidence, we are here to help you take the next step.

Many people experience worries about their appearance at times. For some, these concerns can become persistent, distressing, and begin to take over daily life. This can be part of a condition known as Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD).

BDD involves becoming very focused on a perceived flaw in appearance that often feels very real and upsetting, even if others may not notice it or see it as minor. These worries can lead to behaviours such as repeated mirror checking, avoiding social situations, seeking reassurance, or trying to hide parts of the body. Over time, this can affect confidence, relationships, mood and overall wellbeing.

You might notice:

Constant worry about a specific part of your appearance

Spending a lot of time checking mirrors or avoiding them

Comparing yourself to others and feeling increasingly distressed

Avoiding social, work or personal situations

Feeling reassured only briefly, before worries return

If this sounds familiar, you are not alone, and support can help. Psychological therapy, particularly Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, can help you understand and reduce the cycle of appearance related worries and behaviours. Therapy focuses on building a healthier relationship with your body, improving self esteem, and helping you reconnect with the parts of life that matter to you.

At Sereno Therapy, our experienced clinicians provide compassionate, evidence based support for body image difficulties and BDD. All sessions are delivered online, offering privacy, flexibility and ease of access.

Mondays can sometimes feel rushed or overwhelming, especially when the week begins before we feel ready for it. Taking a few mindful moments can create a sense of calm, clarity and focus that supports your wellbeing throughout the day.

Mindfulness is not about emptying the mind. It is about pausing long enough to notice your thoughts, settle your body and reconnect with the present moment. Even a few minutes can make a meaningful difference.

Random Acts of Kindness Day invites us to pause and consider the impact of small, thoughtful gestures. While kindness may seem simple, it can make a meaningful difference to someone’s emotional wellbeing. Even small moments of care can help people feel seen, supported and less alone.

Acts of kindness do not need to be grand or time consuming. Often, the most powerful gestures are the ones that feel genuine and personal. You may want to check in on someone who has seemed overwhelmed, offer encouragement to a friend who is going through a difficult time, or simply give someone your full attention when they are speaking. These moments can create connection in a way that supports both you and those around you.

If you are finding this time of year emotionally challenging yourself, it may also be helpful to extend some of that kindness inward. Taking a moment to rest, setting a small boundary, or acknowledging your own feelings with understanding can make a real difference to your wellbeing.

At Sereno Therapy, we support individuals who are navigating stress, low mood, anxiety, relationship difficulties and many other life challenges. If you feel that speaking to a trained therapist could help you understand your emotions more clearly or develop healthier ways of coping, we are here to support you.

• Feeling stuck in unhelpful relational patterns
• Difficulty expressing your needs or setting boundaries
• Feeling unsure of your identity outside a relationship

Panic attacks can feel sudden, overwhelming and frightening. Many people describe a strong rush of fear or discomfort that appears without warning, often leaving them unsure of what is happening to their body or mind. If you have experienced this, you are not alone, and support is available.

Panic attacks may involve symptoms such as a racing heartbeat, shortness of breath, shaking, dizziness or a sense of losing control. These sensations are very real and understandably distressing, but they are also treatable. Understanding what is happening can be the first step towards feeling more in control.

At Sereno Therapy, we help clients make sense of these experiences and learn practical skills to manage them more confidently. Through evidence based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and EMDR, clients develop strategies to reduce the intensity and frequency of panic attacks, address the underlying triggers and rebuild a sense of safety.

Therapy can support you to:

• Understand the cycle of panic and what maintains it
• Rebalance physical symptoms through grounding and breathing techniques
• Explore the thoughts and worries that may contribute to panic
• Build confidence in everyday situations that have begun to feel difficult
• Develop long term tools that support emotional steadiness

Panic attacks can be deeply unsettling, but with the right support, they can become far more manageable. Many clients find that therapy helps them regain confidence, reduce avoidance and feel more in control of their wellbeing.

Time to Talk Day is a reminder that conversations about mental health matter. Many people find it difficult to open up, especially during busy routines or when emotions feel complicated. But creating space to talk, even gently and slowly, can make a meaningful difference.

Talking about how you feel does not need to be perfect or polished. It can begin with a simple check-in, a brief message to someone you trust, or taking a moment to notice what you are carrying emotionally. Being honest with yourself is already a significant step.

Why these conversations matter

• Talking can reduce the sense of isolation that often accompanies anxiety, low mood or stress
• It helps you understand what you need and what might support your wellbeing
• It encourages connection, whether with a friend, family member or a professional
• It creates space to notice what feels overwhelming and explore ways to manage it
• It allows early support before difficulties become heavier to cope with

If you feel that talking to someone close to you is difficult right now, speaking to a trained professional can offer a safe and confidential place to work through your thoughts and emotions.

At Sereno Therapy, we offer online evidence based therapy including CBT, EMDR, Counselling, IPT and MBCT. Our therapists provide a calm, supportive environment where you can reflect, understand and begin to feel more grounded.

If you would like to explore whether therapy could help, you are welcome to contact us or book an initial appointment.

What Counselling Can Support You With

• Coping with anxiety, uncertainty or emotional fatigue
• Adjusting to changes in health, identity or daily life
• Managing the emotional impact of supporting a partner, parent or friend
