If you are feeling the strain this Christmas you are not alone.

According to the song, Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. And yet for all its tinsel and glitter, the festive season can bring an array of worries including family relationships, grief, financial pressure, overwhelm, overindulgence, social anxiety and the need to make everything 'perfect'.

Do you want to drink less alcohol? 🍷🍺🍹

Many of my clients tell me they want to cut down on alcohol or even stop drinking altogether. Very often, what started out as one relaxing glass of wine in the evening has turned into something that is much harder to justify.

Sometimes, they've noticed the weight piling on (and we all know how much snacking increases when we drink alcohol, right?)

Sometimes their sleep has become disrupted and they are struggling to find energy during the day. (Because alcohol fragments your sleep, causing lots of micro awakenings during the night).

And sometimes it's just not financially viable to continue drinking regularly anymore. (And that's not surprising when £7 or £8 seems to be the norm for a bottle of wine these days!) 🤯

Alcohol has a way of becoming part of our everyday life - whether it’s socialising with friends, unwinding in the evening or celebrating milestones. After a while it becomes it becomes much harder to simply say to ourselves or to others, “No, thanks.”

And yet for many of us, enjoying a glass of wine or a beer is one of life's great pleasures.

So the question my clients tend to ask me is, "Can it be done? Can I reduce what I drink without giving up altogether?"

And the answer is a resounding - yes, absolutely! If you want to simply moderate your drinking it's entirely possible. 💡

Half Term called for some much-needed family time, and a trip to the Harry Potter Studio Tour 🪄🦉

My boys (18 and 14 now) have been HP fans since they were old enough to read - and the magic has never worn off! ⭐️

I caught my youngest gazing into Dumbledore’s ‘pensieve’ - a magical, shallow dish that stores and allows the user to retrieve memories.

After reading Dumbledore’s explanation below it occurred to me that the pensieve works in a very similar way to my sessions! While I never actively regress my clients (the chance of installing false memories is too great), it can be useful to look back over past experiences from a dissociated place and review and reassess them. When we do this we can often gain a new perspective, and as Dumbledore suggests, spot the links we were perhaps unaware of before.

“I use the Pensieve. One simply siphons the excess thoughts from one's mind, pours them into the basin, and examines them at one's leisure. It becomes easier to spot patterns and links, you understand, when they are in this form."

Meet your therapist! 👋

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these posts but with lots of new clients starting it seems a timely opportunity.

I’m Susie, an experienced hypnotherapist and emotional wellbeing coach. I help people with anxiety or busy and overwhelmed minds to live happier, healthier and more peaceful lives. My special area of focus is anxiety and sleep, but my scope of practice extends to fears and phobias, unwanted habits, pain management, confidence and motivation - and much more besides! If your mind has come up with problem I can usually help you overcome it ⭐️

I work from a beautiful therapy room in Wimborne, close to Walford Mill, but see lots of my clients online, too. The choice is yours.

The best thing about my job is helping people understand that they have so much more control over their minds than they might think! Seeing my clients make changes that they never thought would be possible is what gets me out of bed every day - I love what I do with a passion, and I am confident you will, too!

In my spare time you’ll find me at the theatre, walking my dog, doing yoga, reading or being taxi driver for my two teens.

Hello! Welcome to Sea Breeze Therapies. I’m a qualified clinical hypnotherapist and massage therapist based in Wimborne, and I specialise in helping people make lasting and positive changes to their lives.

You may be visiting my page because you are interested to know whether the therapies I offer can help you with your current life situation. You are possibly wondering if I have the right mix of life experience, relevant training and experience to help you change your life or achieve your goals. And if you are – you are asking all the right questions. I understand that it’s important to find a therapist who is the right match for YOU – somebody who ‘gets’ you and that you will feel comfortable working with.

My name is Susie and I live in Dorset with my husband, two young children and an energetic Irish Terrier named Rafferty. I worked in marketing and PR for more than 20 years, discovering a skill for building relationships and effective communication skills. I came to therapy work relatively late in life, becoming a qualified massage therapist when I was pregnant with my first son and built Sea Breeze Therapies up alongside my full time job .

Helping people has always come naturally to me, and I have a strong and sincere desire to help those around me lead happier, calmer, more fulfilled lives.
