Don't start dusting before you open the windows!

Be careful this time of year.....
Too many of us move the body into a detox mode without preparing the detox pathways....
We go on restrictive diets, jump into exercising and make other lifestyle changes.
This gives our bodys the space and energy to offload toxins! But.....we need to make sure the elimination/detox pathways are working optimally to avoid some uncomfortable symptoms and the body reabsorbing the toxins, before we start cleansing/detoxing.

Not to mention, this time of year is where our body is most stagnant, especially our liver. Our body is in slow down mode.

Can't be bothered to have a full bath (or are on a heavy flow day like me 🚺), but want the full benefits of epsom salts.
Just add 1/2 cup of epsom salts to a warm foot bath. Soak for 30 mins.

When added to warm water, the magnesium and sulfate in epsom salt are dissolved and easily absorbed through the skin. This boosts the amount of magnesium in your body available for energy production during the day, rest during the night, muscle function, pain relief and the reduction of inflammation. Win win I say!

I do alot of research and reading around self talk and mindset. I believe it is a crucial part of behaviour change, something the diet industry doesn't encourage us to work on.

I have a few simple but effective self talk tricks, which I will share....

The first is...

Progress not perfection....

Does this resonate with you? Do you put alot of pressure on yourself to do it ALL right?
Is your go-to an all-or-nothing mentality?

The first stage of changing our mindset and self talk is to notice when those unhelpful thoughts come in...

So I invite you to notice how you are talking to yourself, and to remind yourself that all-or-nothing has never and will never work!
It's about small sustainable steps, creating healthier habits over time, finding foods you ENJOY!
So, progress, not perfection....

We underestimate the power a hydrated body, water is so important for EVERY cell in our body. For EVERY function in our body.

Equinox

We are coming up to the autumn equinox. This is a shift from summer energy to autumn and marks the time when our bodies begin the process of hibernation.
Thus our systems become more contracted and hold on more to fat, nutrients and waste which then makes it more difficult to cleanse or to detox.
It the season signalling us to take stock...literally πŸ˜‰and to consume more warming foods and spices.
This is also a time when just like the full moon a pull on the cells occurs pulling out junk, toxins, mucus and excess acidifying sodium into the lymph to be moved via the blood out of the system via the eliminating organs.
This is the universal energies backing you at this time to help cleanse you in preparation for a hibernating winter.
The 3 weeks over this period covering the 22 September, a week before, during and after can spark a return of symptoms you thought had been cleared or a healing crises or colds and flu.
The way to deal with this is to continue to hydrate and to sweat..This helps support the lymphatic system which doesn't have it's own pump move waste.
Exercise is the key here whether its hiking in the hills your favourite zumba class or intensive gym sessions find that which brings you joy.
It's also colon time in Chinese medicine. The time that the colon works at it's best. This is part of the metal element connected to skin/ lungs/ mind/colon/autumn/grief.
It can also be a return of symptoms connected to this element when these organs work at their best to create a healing crises to move your health journey onwards.
For example you might get an attack of colitis due to the colon trying to deal with lots of inflammatory foods or a return of eczema as the body is trying to throw out waste via the largest eliminating organ. Or you maybe feeling intense feelings of grief as the body is asking you to look at any emotional baggage you are holding onto. Thus this time is the perfect opportunity to have a colonic to help clear up backed up waste coming through from the cells just like a plumber clearing the piping under your sink to reduce stagnation and encourage a healthy colon and system. Also when you clear waste you are clearing on all levels. So grief will come up.

The mind and body are intricately connected

Remember that it is just as important to remove as it is to add during this process. Many health practitioners encourage the taking of too many superfoods. Less is more and it's more to do with hydrating and sweating at this time in preparation for the long hibernating winter.
