Should be an interesting watch but I just wish NICE, had been listening to Nutrition Therapists and had taken note of the research that was around decades ago. The health of not just our nation but across the world has suffered due ignorance of the effects of ultra processed food.
Eat real food, what nature provides doesn’t need a label.

Panorama investigates the links between UK's food safety advisors and the ultra-processed food industry.

In a recent article by my good friend, Dr. David Ludwig, he explains why overeating isn’t the primary cause of obesity, and why we need more research on the carbohydrate-insulin model. You can read the full article through the link in my bio.

Challenges or Opportunities!

Sometimes throughout life we face what at first may seem like Challenges but if we take the time to reframe what’s in front of us we may see the opportunities on offer.

With these opportunities occasionally comes change which can be the biggest obstacle to embracing them. I’m now facing new opportunities and it is therefore time for change. It’s been a tough decision to make as I have enjoyed my time as a registered nutritional therapist, helping clients to achieve their goals and improve their health but I’m closing my clinic in order to focus on a new and exciting future.

My passion for nutrition and it’s benefits for health and well-being will remain as will always be a nutritionist at heart, so I won’t close this page as I will continue to post recipes, information and yummy food ideas.

Stay happy, healthy and enjoy good nutrition 🥗🫑🌶🥬🥦🍅🍒🥑🍎🍐🍌

I always get a gasp 😮 from clients when I tell them the 5-a day rule is the minimum we should really be aiming for 8-10 of which no more than 3-4 should be fruit 🍌 🍎 🍉 the rest from veggies 🥕 🥦. This always follows with a question - how can I get veggies in at breakfast 🍳? Well how about a simple mushroom and kale 🥬 omelette like this. A great breakfast jammed with nutrients that will keep you full till lunch. Add a small k**b of butter or olive oil to a pan, don’t heat this too high we only want to lightly sauté the mushrooms and soften the kale - the fat improves absorption of the fat soluble vitamins in the veggies. Add the beaten eggs that you can season with fresh basil , salt and pepper. If you want you could add an extra portion veggies by including chopped peppers 🫑

If you’re worried about nuts being fattening, know this: Not all calories are created equal. Two hundred calories from nuts and seeds is entirely different from 200 calories from a box of cookies. ⁣

There’s the issue of omega-6 fats. We need these essential fats, but not from the gallons of refined oils we consume every year in processed and fried foods. Wild foods are high in omega-3 and lower in omega-6 fats. ⁣

As hunter-gathers, we consumed a ration between 1 to 1 and 3 to 1 of omega-6 to omega-3 fats. Now, on a junk food, fast-food diet, that ration can get as high as 20 to 1. Not only do nuts and seeds contain a nice balance of omega-3 fats, but they’re also loaded with vitamins, fiber, protein, carbohydrates, minerals, and antioxidants like vitamin E, which prevent oxidation of the fats. Walnuts, flaxseeds, h**p seeds, and chia seeds are some of the richest sources of plant-based omega-3 fats. ⁣

A trial of a nut- and seed- free diet may be useful for certain medical conditions, such as autoimmune disease. But for most of us, nuts and seeds are nutritional and disease-fighting powerhouse superfoods. ⁣

My Story

I am passionate about health and wellbeing, but most importantly about nourishing ourselves to achieve this to optimum levels. Having real food on your plate is my mission but that will only happen if it is appealing and appetising. Tasty nutritious meals are your best medicine to retain or regain health and wellbeing.

I qualified as a registered Nutritional Therapist after struggling with my own health and wellbeing for may years and I now provide one-2-one Nutritional Therapy consultations for a wide range of people, whether they are struggling like I was to cope with the stresses of everyday life or are dealing with conditions such as depression, hypertension, type 11 diabetes, obesity and fatigue as well inflamatory disorder symptoms such as joint paid, eczem and arthritis.

I also provide nutritional advice for general wellbeing, sports nutrition and weight loss to individuals and groups, including sports teams, workplace workshops and schools.
