☕️We forgot to post this! ☕️

We count the brews we make each day to help evidence our community impact.

The numbers are creeping up again now people are swapping out cold refreshments for tea and coffee, with 75 more than last month's.

Our aims include reducing social isolation, aiding community integration, and supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our military community. Brews with friends you didn't know you needed is exactly how we achieve that!

We're open!
Do pop in and say hello 👋🏽

We're a safe space in case the parade and/or service stirs some emotions, but also, a place to remember and celebrate the lives of those no longer with us.

However you do Remembrance, keep yourself safe and don't be afraid to reach out if you find it difficult.

✨ Plaque Unveiling ️✨️

On Saturday 1st Nov, the community gathered to unveil the brand new commemorative plaque on our building.

As you might remember, Daphne Spencer was sadly killed when a bomb was accidently dropped on the former bank.
When the bank left they took the commemorative plaque with them and unfortunately we've not been able to return it to its rightful place.

On Saturday, Rev. Hilary Jalland performed a short ceremony and blessing before Steve Lee from Wincanton Town Council unveilled a brand new commemorative plaque kindly funded by The Newt in Somerset.
We were joined by the Mayor, Town Council staff, Hub regulars and volunteers, local residents, and even Margaret who used to work in the bank many moons ago.

Following the unveiling, those who were able to took the short walk down to the cemetery to visit the newly restored family graves. Volunteers Steve, Gordon and Pauline joined forces with Wincanton Town Council to return them to their former glory.

After another short ceremony and blessing, local veteran Chris laid a wreath on behalf of Got Your Six UK. We then returned to the hub to raise a glass of fizz courtesy of The Newt.

Today, Fri 7th, we had the pleasure of welcoming Zoe, the Community Liason Officer from The Newt to see the plaque, tour our facilities, and to meet some of our beneficiaries. What a wonderful week it has been!
Thank you to everyone involved 💚

Last week, we had the pleasure of a visit from Yvette, Paul and Honey from Keith Fest.

You might remember there was a music festival in August...
We were honoured to be a beneficiary of this incredible festival and are delighted to announce we received a whopping £1,700 🤩

Thank you so much to everyone who came and enjoyed it with us. It was a really special event.
Our team enjoyed a weekend of camping, music and fantastic people!

Here's a few snaps to re-live the experience 🥳

⚠️ Trigger Warning ⚠️
Keith Fest is run in memory of Keith Bowler who sadly took his own life. Part of what we do at Got Your Six UK is Su***de Intervention and Prevention. We never want another family do go through what the Bowler family went through.
This donation goes towards keeping our vital services running for those in need.

Since our inception, our su***de intervention skills have been deployed 15 times to prevent immediate risk of harm.

✨️ Graves Update and Plaque Unveiling ✨️

You may remember our post from the summer which explained how a few of our volunteers had been tidying the graves of Daphne Spencer and her parents right here in Wincanton. (Daphne was killed in our building when I bomb was accidently dropped on it)

Well, I think you'll agree, they've done a really beautiful job!
With assistance from Wincanton Town Council, the volunteers cleared brambles and restored the graves to their former beauty!

📅 Sat 1st Nov - Save the Date!
You also might remember we mentioned a plaque to commemorate Daphne? Well, thanks to The Newt in Somerset a replacement has been made and will be unveiled next Saturday 1st Nov.

We welcome members of the community to join us for the unveiling and blessing.
1100 - meet at our Community Hub (5 South Street)
