Our clinics in Wincanton, and the GP surgeries in Sherborne, Stalbridge and Queen Camel, offer appointments 6 days a week. Weekend, evenings and an out of hours emergency appointments are available. We’re delighted to be hosting Luminosity Sound Bath sessions, offering you an hour to relax the mind, reduce stress and anxiety, relax, rebalance, and reconnect.

🥣 National Soup Month – January Soup Series 🥣
January is National Soup Month, and to celebrate, we’ll be sharing a soup recipe each week throughout the month.

Our first recipe is this warming Creamy Sweet Potato & Ginger Soup, shared by Alison, and it’s one that she and her husband both enjoy.

Creamy Sweet Potato & Ginger Soup
Ingredients
Sweet potatoes
Onion
Fresh ginger
Vegetable stock
Crème fraîche
Optional: oil or butter, salt and pepper
How to make it
Peel and chop the sweet potatoes into chunks. Dice the onion and finely chop or grate the ginger.
Heat a little oil or butter in a pot and gently cook the onion until soft.
Add the ginger and cook for about 30 seconds, until fragrant.
Add the sweet potatoes and enough vegetable stock to cover them.
Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 15–20 minutes, until the potatoes are soft.
Blend the soup until smooth.
Stir in a few spoonfuls of crème fraîche and season with salt and pepper to taste.
Optional additions include chili flakes for a little heat, a squeeze of lemon, or extra crème fraîche on top.

January is the perfect time to enjoy warming, nourishing bowls of soup – and there’s even a reason to celebrate it!
National Soup Month was officially designated in 1984 by the Campbell Soup Company.
Here at Wincanton Chiropractic Clinic, we love soup just as much as you do.
Throughout January, we’ll be sharing weekly soup recipes from our staff and patients.
✨ Our first recipe will be from Alison this weekend, so don’t miss it!

The Big Day.. Like the rest of the Christmas period, don't feel that you have to do everything yourself.
If you take on the cooking then make sure someone helps you plate up and bring it all to the table.
Especially the hot heavy turkey - if you put it into the oven, enable some help to get it out, if you have been on your feet cooking for hours then you will need some help to handle the weight of the turkey.
Christmas Day doesn't have to be a struggle for one person to create the illusion that everything is perfect, make it a group effort so everyone can enjoy the day!

Most importantly have a wonderful Christmas period and a Happy New Year!

🎄Wincanton Chiropractic Clinic's Christmas Tip #6 🎄
Eat, Drink, Sleep, Repeat - Just because its Christmas does not mean you have to eat all of the Mince Pies, Allow for some indulgence, but remember everything in moderation! Stay hydrated! Our alcohol intake over the festive period often goes up by a couple of notches, this means you are more likely to become dehydrated.
Help to avoid this by having your water bottle with you whenever you can, and try starting your day with a warm water with lemon.
Be aware of early signs that you are dehydrated such as a dull headache, tiredness and dark urine. Know your limits!! If you can try and get enough sleep, plan for a few early nights during this busy party season, as the late nights can play havoc with our sleep patterns.
Not sleeping enough throws more than your circadian rhythm out of balance, this is the deeper part of the sleep cycle where the hormones necessary for healing are released.

Time off work during the festive period, Keep active - we know its oh so tempting to sit back, relax and indulge in Christmas festivities.
Prolonged periods of rest are also bad for your joints, especially if they are so used to being active everyday.
Try to do 30 mins of gentle to moderate exercises 3 - 5 times a week, to keep your body healthy and happy over the festive period.

🎄Wincanton Chiropractic Clinic's Christmas Tip #4🎄
During the festive period we feel compelled to try and pack everything in and visit everyone.
If you are travelling this Christmas make sure you think ahead.
Ensure a healthy sitting posture : a supportive lumbar support in the car, a sensible angle at both the knee and hip 90 degrees is best and lastly the head rest at a sensible height.
For the driver - don't strain your neck forward too close to the steering wheel, keep your head back and on the headrest, keep your shoulder blades down, not hunched up around your shoulders.
Take regular breaks on your journeys, stretch your legs. If you are staying overnight, take you own pillow with you to reduce the chances of neck pain flaring up with an unfamiliar pillow!

As the weekend winds down, here’s a gentle Sunday night reminder from Wincanton Chiropractic Clinic to look after yourself — even if it’s just for five minutes. 💛
5 min self care:
*write down 3 nice things about yourself
*step outside for some fresh air
*drink some water
*do a short mindfulness breathing excercise
*book the chiropractic or massage appointment you have been putting off
*listen to a song that makes you smile, find a cute video of cute animals online
