✨ Winter Blues: Something Real You Can Do Today ✨

If you’re feeling heavy, flat, slow or disconnected lately, you’re not doing anything wrong. This time of year pulls energy downwards. Your body is trying to protect you, not punish you. So instead of fighting the slump or forcing yourself to “snap out of it,” try meeting your body where it actually is.

One thing that genuinely helps: Box Breathing; not for relaxation, but for regulation.
It gives your brain a pattern, and patterns are safety.

💙Exhale for 4
💚Hold for 4
🩷Repeat for 5–10 rounds.

It interrupts the spiral, brings you back into your body, and slows the survival system down just enough to function again.

As the year winds down, our bodies start whispering for rest, softness, and a bit of space to breathe. So many of us feel that familiar mix of tiredness, overwhelm, and “I just need a day to breathe.” Winter has a way of asking us to slow down, but life doesn’t always let us.

If your mind feels full, if your body feels heavy, or if you just want something soft to look forward to, this might be exactly what you need.

On 20th December, I’m hosting a one-day Winter Retreat: a cosy, creative, restorative day designed to settle your nervous system and fill you back up again.

Step out of the December rush and into a day that feels like a warm hug. These winter retreat days are all about festive joy, hands-on creativity, and giving yourself a much-needed pause before the season gets busy. Think twinkly lights, woodland stillness, good food, and that soft “ahhhh” feeling of finally slowing down.

We’ll ease into the morning by crafting your own clay winter decorations, stars, moons, evergreens, or whatever your inner artist wants to play with. It’s simple, grounding, and surprisingly soothing. After that, tuck into a cosy buffet lunch and homemade soup, the kind that warms you from the inside out while you chat and connect with lovely people in a relaxed, festive space.

In the afternoon, melt into a deeply calming sound bath, letting the vibration settle your nervous system and soften all that end-of-year tension. We’ll finish with a magical candle-making session, hand-rolling soft wax with herbs and seasonal intention. You’ll leave with your own handmade candle, a tiny piece of winter light to carry home.

Throughout the day there’s space to breathe, reflect, laugh, and just be human without pressure. Everything is provided; you just show up and enjoy. Leave feeling refreshed, inspired, and wrapped in that gentle winter glow.

Sometimes it’s not “in your head” ... it’s in your chest, your throat, your stomach, your shoulders. Emotions don’t disappear just because you push them down. They sit in the body like unspoken conversations, tightness that won’t ease, headaches that return every week, a heaviness you can’t quite explain.

And when life piles up, those stored feelings can make everything feel overwhelming. You get snappy over small things. You feel numb when you should feel something. You keep busy because slowing down feels dangerous. You can sense something is trying to move… but you don’t know how to let it out.

You’re not broken for feeling like this. You’re human. We weren’t taught how to process emotions. We were taught to hold them, hide them, or “be strong.” And the body has simply been carrying what the mind couldn’t handle at the time.

This is where my work comes in. Through somatic therapy, bodywork, and gentle emotional processing, I help you loosen the grip. We unpack the tension, the patterns, the pressure. Slowly, safely, in a way that lets your body exhale again. You don’t have to carry everything alone. There is a way through and it starts with listening to the body you’ve been surviving inside of. 🤍

Mid-November is such a weird little season. It’s not quite winter, not quite autumn… it’s just that chilly limbo where we’re all running around pretending we’re fine while secretly Googling “heated blanket UK” at 3pm.

This is your gentle reminder that it’s absolutely OK to slow down a bit right now. Wear the oversized jumper. Make the second cup of tea. Sit under a blanket like a Victorian child recovering from an emotional shock. Light the candles at 4pm because the sun just gave up.

Your body loves warmth. Your nervous system softens into it. And honestly? Being cosy is a valid coping strategy. So layer up, move slower, and let this in-between season be a reason to create little pockets of comfort wherever you can.
