Meet Your Therapist, Amelia….

I am a qualified soft tissue therapist. I practice in the field of massage and soft tissue therapy, which is a well-recognised discipline in modern healthcare. I am member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) and I am fully insured. I provide treatments from Farrant Fitness Gym in Winchester and mobile appointments from the comfort of your own home. I am also a qualified Personal Trainer and Fitness Coach, so can tailor your therapy in line you your training plan and schedule and aim to get your back in the gym on and track safely to meet your goals. What is a Sports Massage? Sports massage is generally using a firmer technique than a therapeutic massage. Different techniques are applied depending on the treatment required, these include:

• Soft Tissue Release
• Muscle Energy Technique
• Neuromuscular Techniques
• Remedial Exercises

Massage has lots of benefits but ultimately it is most beneficial when used to warm up and mobilise your muscles to help the tight bits relax and loosen so that they stop feeling so achy making your life generally more comfortable so that you are able to keep up with life. The added bonus is that it can help identify any problem areas as the best way to treat a problem is before it even arises, its all about being pro-active with your health! If you are feeling the effects of repetitive training, legs feeling stiff and you don't feel you're getting the best from them, a sports massage can help to decrease the stiffness that training brings about. Massage also helps to improve circulation this means that your muscles can recover quicker therefore you can train harder to reach your goals. If you do a specific sport, the muscles that are used within that sport will need targeting and fine tuning through deep tissue massage along with other techniques or as simple as a more general massage resulting in increased performance.

Time flies when you are rushed off your feet...work, life, family etc...then your training. Hard to find time for it all.

My top tips:
- plan your workouts, have a clear strategy that meets your goals.
- plan some mobility days.
- meal prep.
- train intuitively and take a guilt free day off when you need it.

When you have to get in and out, try this workout for size...

16' EMOM
Minute 1- 3 wall walks (slow mo pike press up for regression) straight into 12 heavy KB swings.
Minute 2 - 12 cal row.
Repeat 8 rounds of each.

Rest 2 mins
16' EMOM
Minute 1- 20 air squats straight into 10 butterfly sit ups..
Minute 2 - 10 Burpee broad jumps.
Repeat 8 rounds of each.

Get in and get out💪😁👍

Happy and eased clients = job satisfaction
All my clients are a pleasure to work with.

Be driven by your goals.

Moving well in real life is more important to me than aesthetics.

Yes I want to hit those numbers but I also want to retain my mobility and flexibility.

If you are after conditioning after a resistance training session, give this one a whirl.

Push hard on the 40s and 30s work intervals, then go full send on the 20s sprints.

Get in, get out...💪🫶💥

Do you struggle reaching a full range of motion with the overhead press?

Lifting something overhead is not just a movement restricted to the gym, it is a functional movement of our daily lives - e.g. putting something in the loft or getting something down from on top of the kitchen cupboards!

Lack of shoulder mobility is a common issue with the overhead press.

More often, the triceps and lats are tight and restrict the load from being positioned overhead in a stable position without causing undue pressure on the lower back.

Keeping the lats and triceps loose through priming and stretching will allow you to have better shoulder stability overhead and minimise injury.

Deep tissue massage will further release those sticky points that just stretching cannot reach!
