The Dos and Don'ts of talking about mental health issues:
Do's:
1) "You are not alone".
2) "Your important to me".
3) "How are you feeling".
4) "Are you feeling okay?".
5) "I'm here for you".
6) "I'm not going to leave".

Don'ts:
1) "Someone else is probably a lot more worse".
2) "The world doesn't revolve around you".
3) "Don't feel sorry for yourself".
4) "You seem fine to me".
5) "Just try and not feel so depressed".
6) "It's nobody's fault but your own".

We hope that this has helped. For more information, if you just want to chat or talk to us about anything, we are here to help.

An article from Healthline discusses things to say to someone with depression, if you know anyone who are suffering, please give this article a read:

Wondering what to say to someone with depression? Express your concern, listen, but avoid giving advice. Individuals with depression need to know you're there and that you care.

Our Aim...

We aim to address the stigma behind mental health issues in men.

We aim to address students who are friends of someone who are going through issues of mental health, and how these people can help them or know what to say in situations where there might not be a lot to say back to them.

We will give ways of helping a friend (of someone who suffers from mental health issues) by giving them responses of things to say when in a dark situation. As we are all in it together.

We also aim to create a better communication in men to be able to talk about their issues.

We aim to make students more aware of mental health in men. Allowing students to be able to know what to say in certain situations. Making it easier for people to open up about what they are suffering from. Not only relieving themselves of a heavy weight but also to make someone else aware.

We aim to help the friends and help themselves if they are suffering.

We aim to start a talking point for men to be able to open up about their issues and their problems regarding mental health.
