Alcohol impacts our health and wellbeing in many different ways. From causing headaches, sleepless nights, and feeling “off” the next day - to an increased risk of more serious long-term health conditions like increased blood pressure, cholesterol and even types of cancer.

However, reducing your intake can improve your health in many ways, such as...
✔️ Lower blood pressure
✔️ Reduced risk of diabetes
✔️ Lower cholesterol
✔️ Lower risk of stroke, hypertension, cancer and liver disease
✔️ Better-looking skin
✔️ Feeling more energetic
✔️ Better mood, memory and quality of sleep

January can be a fresh start, but it doesn't mean that the pressure to drink disappears. Recognising pressure, and having steps in place to help you keep control, can be helpful.

Below are a few practical ways to navigate pressure around drinking:
➡️ Be aware of situations where you might be pressured to drink and plan for this beforehand.
➡️ Plan activities that don’t involve drinking.
➡️ Set a limit for events where you are likely to experience pressure.
➡️ Tell someone you trust that you want to stick to a limit so they can have your back.
➡️ Set expectations with others in advance that you won’t be drinking.

Being able to combat pressure to drink can make a big difference when it comes to being in control of your intake.
