Here at The Little Grey Sheep we farm for fibre, producing a truly British hand dyed yarn which is of the highest quality for knitting and weaving. In the process our fibre is sheared by our shepherdess Susie, washed in Yorkshire and spun in Devon before coming home to be hand dyed by Emma.

On my way home today I thought I would take a quieter route and enjoy the autumn foliage, that all to often disappears in one viscous storm. I was so saddened to see my way blocked by a load of building rubbish, tipped without thought on the road.
Rather than paying to take it up the local skip they had decided to just abandon their rubbish for other to clean up.
It is heartbreaking to see their lack of connection with the country side and that to save a skip fee they find a quiet spot to fly tip.
This is not a victimless crime, fly tipping increases the detrimental effects to wildlife and our own increasing council taxes.
With concrete barriers across every gate to stop the hare coursing and a rise in fly tipping, to the few, the countryside is not seen as a place of solace but as a unmonitored location for criminal activity πŸ˜’πŸ€¬πŸ—‘οΈ

I met Anita last year when she travelled to the farm to look at our yarns. An avid crocheter and talented designer Anita has made a name for herself on Instagram with a following of over 125k people who love her patterns as much as I do.
Anita has just produced her first book which will be released on the 20th November based on traditional American quilts made in granny squares. One of those designs features our British Hampshire DK yarn and is called the Exploration Sampler blanket.
Anita will be happy to sign books, either purchased on the day or brought with you and will be showcasing the designs from the book.
I am working hard to finish my blanket sample, although it may not meet Anitas exacting standards πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ§Ά

Can't quite believe it's that time again to launch the tickets for our up and coming Christmas Open Weekend. This year we are thrilled to be having the lovely Anita Gibney, author and crochet designer coming on the Saturday to sign books and show off her new design.
Susie will be showing off the progress of her new pups, Flick and Mole with Cis and Wyn as the main stay for the sheep dog display.
There will also be a talk about our state of the art spinning mill and a dive into the many processes that make our yarns so special.
With lots of coffee and cake and our pops up cafe you can enjoy a good lunch and a fun friendly day out with like minded people.
Tickets are strictly limited as we have limited parking so will be on a first come first served basis.
We are looking forward to welcoming you to the farm. πŸ§ΆπŸ’• .parish

When you just need a quick nap, πŸ’€where else than on the feed bucket πŸ™„. The boys will be in with the woolly ladies soon. The run up to another lambing season πŸ₯° with all the turmoil in the world at the moment, it is nice that some things stay the same year after year. πŸ§ΆπŸ’•

Bundles of yarn in basket showcases some lovely autumnal tones. The wonky brickwork in the back ground is from the Georgian Manor house that sits next to the farm. Individually made from local clay their warm tones seems to set of the yarns colours. 🧢πŸ₯°πŸ©· πŸ§ΆπŸ’•
