Chesterfield Community Food Hut was born after two little girls Gracie and Darcie decided they needed to help the community they lived in during COVID-19.

Along came Michelle Vickers offering to delivery drive to the vulnerable...
Very quickly the Food Hut took off, This project is a lot bigger than 1st originally thought,
Chelle, Nicola, Aimee offered to volunteer, and a team of 5 made it more possible.
Volunteering, sourcing donations became a way of life!
We are 100% donation based, We don’t receive Fareshare membership or community funded grants, We understand that during this crisis we now have working families who are unable to afford food and awaiting benefits. We ARE the stop gap until you get that food delivery slot, the long awaited benefits. We CARE. Every single person that has asked for a food parcel has received one.
During this project, we noted another business in Chesterfield Door 2 Door Taxi’s, out of the goodness of their hearts, they were delivering self funded food parcels out the elderly, whilst still trying to run a business and also offering 20% discount to keyworkers.
This is where we teamed up, We pack parcels together, We deliver together, Together we are #TeamChesterfield
To date today 20.04.2020 #Teamchesterfield has handed out 1200 food parcels jointly to the WHOLE of Chesterfield, we don't do boroughs, we do Chesterfield as a whole. Together as ONE.
We are passed on referrals from DCC, Morrisons, Voluntary Action, Social Services and also Community Mental Health teams, These people wouldn’t ask us if we weren’t trusted.

We deliver out to vulnerable elderly people, Deliver to people in isolation, our project has NO discrimination, We UNDERSTAND, We CARE.

We re-invest 100% of donations back into the community. The fuel in our cars is funded by us personally NOT YOUR donations,
Some people maybe confused about our Paypal, and the bank account being in a sole name. We are awaiting a community bank about being set up (This should be within next 2 weeks) in-between all of the parcels, We have behind the scenes making the Food Hut comply with regulations set out for projects,
Rest assured although the paypal and bank account have a sole name on, these were set up individually away from personal bank accounts specifically for use by the FoodHut, All monies incoming and outgoing are account for and logged by 3 signatories. We had to do something as a stop gap and this was the best option available.
We are always sourcing donations wherever possible, and to those who have supported us, Volunteered as drivers with us.
