Type 2 diabetes can’t currently be cured — but for some people, it can go into remission.
Research shows that some adults living with obesity may achieve remission by losing weight.
So what does remission mean?
It means blood sugar levels are below the diabetes range for at least 3 months — without taking any diabetes medication.
However, remission isn’t necessarily permanent. Blood sugar levels can rise again, which is why ongoing check-ups and diabetes appointments remain essential — even during remission.
