Back to Motion

Back to Motion As registered Chiropractors Sylvie and Amanda focus on the diagnosis and treatment of neuromuscular d This modifies the way pain signals are received.

Chiropractors, Amanda and Sylvie are registered health care professionals who focus on the spine and the neuro-musculoskeletal system, and how conditions affecting these areas can affect your health and performance. The McTimoney approach to chiropractic was developed by the late John McTimoney over 50 years ago. It is well known for being a whole body approach to chiropractic care using light, quick and specific adjustments. Most people experience little or no discomfort when receiving a McTimoney Method treatment. Along with Chiropractic both Practitioners are trained in medical acupuncture. Acupuncture needles stimulate the nerves in skin and muscle, and can produce a variety of effects. We know that it increases the body’s release of natural painkillers – endorphin and serotonin – in the pain pathways of both the spinal cord and the brain. Acupuncture is effective in a range of painful conditions and is commonly used for short-term relief of chronic low back pain and neck pain, and can help with the management of knee pain caused by osteoarthritis. There is good evidence that it is effective in the short term relief of tension type headaches and migraine, and of temporomandibular joint pain. To complement Chiropractic and medical acupuncture, soft tissue therapy works to reduce muscle spasm, mobilise stiffened joints, improve flexibility, mobility, relieve pain and increase circulation. Injured and tight muscles develop scar tissue and fibrous knots which can cause muscle spasm, stiffness, muscular pain and reduces mobility around the joints.

Our Story

Amanda launched Back to Motion in May 2014 providing sports and remedial massage. Sylvie joined us in March 2017 as a sports massage therapist and a little later added pregnancy massage to her range of techniques.

In December 2017 Amanda graduated from the McTimoney College of Chiropractic with an Integrated Masters in Chiropractic and has since also added medical acupuncture to her growing list of skills. Sylvie continues her studies at McTimoney and is due to finish in December 2020.
