“Lilly was born at 30wks+6 days and was under the care of the neonatal unit for 3 weeks and then SCBU for a week. The scariest time ever made so at ease by all the amazing nurses and doctors who were looking after her 🥹 all of which I’ll be so forever grateful for! I’ve got the funniest happiest 1year old now 🩷”

Happy 1st Birthday Abel 🎉🧸

“Hey! Just wanting to give you guys an update on Abel as it’s his first birthday today!
Abel was born at 33+4 weeks at 2lbs 9oz due to severe IUGR. I was an inpatient up in Wishaw for 9 weeks to be closely monitored during the rest of my pregnancy. He spent 2 weeks with you guys before he was finally strong enough to be transferred back to our hometown Dumfries. We cannot thank his aunties and uncles in the NICU enough for helping our teeny tiny little man and giving him the best start in life. Also, being there to support us in a time that felt so heavy. It’s something we will never forget 💙
This has been the quickest year ever! Abel is absolutely thriving and a typical wild little boy! We wouldn’t be where we are without you guys. Thank you so much xx “

Kaysen Turns 2 🎂🎉

“Hi there I just wanted to message to say my little boy kaysen just turned 2 and he is thriving and would like to thank everyone in the neonatal team for the amazing care he was given when he was born he was born at 32 weeks weighing 3lbs12oz!”

Flynn Turns 1 🎉✨

Our wee boy Flynn was born a year ago today at 32 weeks and spent his first night in the NICU.
He went onto spend a further 3-4 weeks in the NICU, SCBU and TCU.
The nurses and midwives were all nothing short of amazing and helped our wee boy as well as supporting my Husband and I through what was a very scary and emotional time. We are forever grateful to them.
Our boy celebrated his first birthday today and is absolutely thriving. ♥️

We hope you had a fantastic 1st birthday Flynn, from all of your aunties and uncles in the NNU 🎂

Today we are celebrating World Down Syndrome day in honour of all the amazing families we have had the privilege of caring for.

We will of course be wearing odd socks to celebrate diversity and raise awareness.

Safer sleep week.

Just because it’s on the shelf doesn’t mean it’s suitable for sleep. 🤔

Baby sleep products aren’t always designed with safer sleep in mind, even if they’re marketed that way.

When it comes to your baby’s sleep space, keep it simple to keep it safe. You don’t need to buy lots of products or spend money on expensive items.

The safest place for a baby to sleep is on their back in their own clear, flat, firm sleep space.

There are just a few items that we recommend – the baby necessities:

- Cot or Moses basket
- Portable sleep space such as a travel cot, carry cot or Moses basket
- Firm, flat, waterproof mattress
- Sleeping bag or sheets and a lightweight blanket
- Room thermometer
- Car seat – this is not intended for sleeping when not travelling, but is essential for safer travel.
