Witham Industrial Watch Ltd Supporting 350+ businesses on Witham's industrial estates | Managing commitments to its BID status

HISTORY:
In 2004 a local group of business people formed an effective network to alert each other to suspicious activity and incidents in the area. In 2009 the group formed a company, Witham Industrial Watch Ltd, and were successful in achieving Business Improvement District (BID) status for Witham’s industrial estates from 2009 to 2014. In 2014 businesses on the estates voted in favour of another five year BID term, from 2014-2019, operated by Witham Industrial Watch. BID 2014-2019 saw the continuation of the great improvements already in place, plus some new, exciting projects such as the installation of 8 defibrillators and training for 100+ people to use them. In 2019 once again businesses on the estates voted overwhelmingly in favour of another five year BID term, from 2019-2024. During this BID period CCTV and ANPR cameras will be replaced as necessary with newer technology and additional cameras added; signage on the estates will be reviewed and efforts will continue with regards to traffic flow and parking frustrations on the estates. TODAY:
2024 saw yet another successful result for the BID Ballot, with a resounding YES for another 5-year term for Witham Industrial Watch (WIW). The new mandate will ensure the work of WIW continues through to the next BID Ballot in 2029, so we can build on our previous achievements. Based within the Eastways Industrial Estate, Witham Industrial Watch Ltd employs a full-time BID Manager and Office Administrator. It installs cameras (ANPR & CCTV) and defibrillators, erects signage on the estates, ensures the salting/gritting of estate roads to allow businesses to continue to operate during sub-zero winter weather, oversees the estate environments, liaises closely with Essex Police and makes representations to local councils to try to improve related issues on the estates.

Record Numbers At End Of Year Catch Up Event!
We were absolutely delighted to welcome so many attendees representing a record number of businesses to the end of year update and mingling event that we ran on Thursday, 4th December.

It was clear that everyone who attended in person gained some valuable information, new contacts and genuine food for thought from the BID Manager's update and the input from our special guests from Essex Police - Braintree District and Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, along with some very grounding feedback from Dalebrook Supplies Ltd representative about the recent fire at their premises.

Business neighbours Colleen and Muna introduced their company, Beta Pharmaceuticals, and expanded further to talk about the incredible work that is supported by the Beta Charitable Trust which benefits a diverse number of projects and communities in both the UK and abroad.

We offer our thanks to everyone who was involved in making this event such a positive and interactive experience, and we look forward to building on this success with future gatherings.

Our Advent Hamper Scheme returns for 2025, and it’s as easy as 1,2,3!
1. Find a box or container for your hamper. You can decorate and make it festive if you like.
2. Fill your container throughout November. It’s up to you what non-perishable and seasonal items you put in, and how much. You might like to share your hamper with a friend, or do it as a family. There are suggestions below if you need some ideas, but you can fill it with as much or as little as you like.
3. Drop your container in to Witham Information Centre by Wednesday 10th December for us to distribute to worthwhile causes throughout the town
You can help make a world of difference to someone's Christmas.

A fantastic initiative and we've already had a number of other businesses across the industrial estates following suit, with the help of the lovely people at Masterframe turning these otherwise waste buckets into fab looking planters for everyone to enjoy.

At Masterframe, we take our sustainability and environmental responsibilities very seriously.

Earlier on this year we started to recycle our used gasket buckets, spray painting in our in-house spray facility and then reusing as planters.

We had an amazing amount of interest in these from other companies based on our estate, so much so that we now offer these planters to other companies, painted in their corporate colours.

All in association with Witham Industrial Watch Ltd

And here’s some we’ve just produced for Simarco International Ltd (Simarco International Ltd )

We had a lovely comment from Kate Rice “Thanks again, it’s a great incentive for the local business 🙂“

♻️🌍 WEEE Won’t Waste It Witham! 🌍♻️
Did you know that your old kettles, toasters, broken hairdryers, and that mystery drawer of random cables (we all have one!) are officially known as WEEE — Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment?
Instead of letting them gather dust or sneak into the general bin, let’s give them a proper send-off!
On the week of International E-Waste Day, WEEE in Witham can make a difference:
✅ Gather up your unwanted cables and gadgets —working or not, if it fits in a carrier bag, your WEEE collection point can take it.
✅ Drop them at Witham’s local WEEE collection points at the library or tip
✅ Spread the word! Tag a friend who’s definitely still hiding a Nokia 3310 somewhere 👀
Every cable, controller, and crusty old kettle you recycle helps recover valuable materials and protects our planet 🌱💚
