We're recuiting: Neighbourhood Housing Officer (Maternity Cover)

We’re looking for an experienced housing professional to join our busy team. This is a flexible, mobile role - combining home and office working with face-to-face time supporting customers across a defined patch of mixed tenure properties, including general needs, independent living, shared ownership, and leasehold homes.

You’ll be involved in:
- Estate management (grounds maintenance & communal services)
- Managing voids and new tenancy sign-ups
- Supporting tenancy changes and ongoing tenancy management
- Handling nuisance and anti-social behaviour cases
- Encouraging resident involvement
- Responding to service charge queries

A big well done to our colleagues across Cottsway who’ve volunteered to fundraise or donate to support Sobell House Hospice. Together, they’ve raised an amazing £6,500 for the charity, which provides specialist palliative and end-of-life care to adults living in Oxfordshire with a life-limiting illness, and support to their family and friends.

Through our work with our customers and local communities, we see first-hand the difference organisations like Sobell House make, and this money will help them to provide over 267 hours of specialist nursing care.

The money has been raised through various events and initiatives organised by staff volunteers at Cottsway and supported by colleagues across the housing association, who’ve dug deep during the past financial year. Find out more: https://orlo.uk/c1reY

We’re pleased to share our Cirencester Engagement Plan 2026–2028.

Developed with input from customers and our staff, the plan sets out how we will support former Cirencester Housing customers, who transferred to us in December 2023.

It focuses on neighbourhood improvements, community connection, and targeted support - alongside investment through our £10,000 Cirencester Legacy Fund.

We’re a small group of Cottsway residents who work with the housing association to see what’s working well and suggest improvements.

Because we live in Cottsway homes ourselves, we can share honest feedback on what’s working well and what could improve. Recently, we reviewed the process for ending a tenancy and made recommendations to simplify it.

Yesterday, we welcomed some of our customers, councillors, development and other partners to mark the near completion of homes at Brize Meadow in West Oxfordshire, welcome Anne McLoughlin as our new Board Chair starting from today, and take the opportunity to reflect on 25 years of Cottsway.

It was our silver anniversary last week and we were also joined at the housing scheme by MP for Witney Charlie Maynard, some of our longest-serving staff who've been with us since the beginning, and members of our customer Scrutiny Group to take a look around the site and inside some of the new homes, and say farewell to outgoing Chair Andrew Hall, who leaves Cottsway after 7 years.

There are 271 Cottsway homes for rent and shared ownership at Brize Meadow and its one of our largest most recent developments.

New Chair Anne says: “I believe everyone deserves a safe, decent place to call home, and I would like to thank everyone who has been part of Cottsway over the past 25 years for making this possible for the thousands of people who live in our homes. I’d also like to thank all our customers for being with us - I look forward to being part of Cottsway’s future and putting customer voice at the centre of everything we do.”

Our assisted decorating scheme is now open for applications.

We may be able to help you decorate up to two rooms in your home if you are a Cottsway customer with a disability or over the age of 70 and you receive either disability benefit, housing benefit or universal credit.

Applications opened today (Tuesday 1 April) and it is first-come, first-served so please don’t hesitate in getting your application in!

We will try to help as many of you as possible, but please be aware that spaces are limited and there are some restrictions. You will not be eligible if you:
• have already been helped by the scheme in the last five years
• are a shared owner or leaseholder
• applied for right to buy or acquire
• have someone aged between 18 and 60 living with you and able to do the work.

As we celebrate Cottsway's 25th anniversary, our longest-standing customer Doreen has also reached a milestone - a very happy 90th birthday Doreen!

Lorna, our Community Investment Officer, met with Doreen and her daughter Jacqui (pictured) to deliver a beautiful bouquet of birthday flowers. Doreen moved into her home in 1957 and together they fondly reminisced about all the good times they have had together in the house, with Jacqui growing up there, and all the special memories they've made over the years.

We love hearing and seeing how our houses become peoples' homes and everyone at Cottsway sends Doreen birthday wishes and all the very best.
