It is always sad saying goodbye to a baby massage group, but lovely knowing that new friendships have been made and new skills learnt to keep using at home, hopefully for years to come.

Our next course starts next week, and there are still 2 places available for anyone who wants them! The ideal time to learn to massage your baby is when they are between 8 and 16 weeks old - coming out of their sleepy newborn stage, but not yet on the move!

The 6 week course takes place in Witney on Thursdays from 11.30-1.00.

As well as being a lovely way to meet other local mums with babies of a similar age, baby massage also gives you a chance to bond with and understand your baby's cues better and to help your baby with their sleep, with their digestion, with their immune system and with their nervous system.

Each session focusses on a different part of the body, building up week by week until they are ready for a full body massage (lucky babies!). We also have time each week to have a cuppa and a discussion opportunity, and the class is a great place to share your ups and downs of motherhood, your life hacks with a new baby, and to ask any questions you may have about looking after a little one.

Find out more and grab one of the two remaining places here: https://www.birthbabybalance.co.uk/baby-massage

People take antenatal classes for all sorts of reasons - to understand what will happen through labour and birth, to learn about their rights in childbirth, to find out what pain relief options are available locally, to start thinking about how to look after their baby, to learn techniques to keep themselves calm and relaxed in labour, to meet other local couples due at a similar time.

Last night was the final session of our Comprehensive Antenatal course, which covers all the above and more. This lovely group are now well on their way to becoming parents, and are feeling much more prepared and ready for the adventure that lies ahead. Sadly 2 couples couldn't make it to the last class, so we represented them with birth balls ๐Ÿคฃ!

If you are looking to get educated about all things birth and baby, our next Empowered Birth course starts on 9th April, and is suitable for due dates from early June-early August. Alternatively, if you are due between early July and late August we have a Comprehensive Antenatal course starting on 6th May. Both courses are 6 weeks long and take place in Witney.

So fabulous to see the sun today โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜โ˜€๏ธ! And I clearly wasn't alone in thinking that, as we had 16 mums and babies (and 2 dogs ๐Ÿฆฎ๐Ÿถโค๏ธ) at Walking and Talking.
Today's location was The Old Shed in Charlbury - a lovely walk through the woods, and then al fresco tea and cake at the cafe ๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿซ–โ˜•๏ธ๐Ÿง.

Several mums on the group told me that this is their favourite baby group to come to, so if you haven't discovered it yet, come and join us! We're on every Tuesday at 1.00. The location changes every week depending on the forecast so it is a great way to discover pram friendly walks across West Oxon.

We made the most of the dry weather and had a lovely Walk and Talk in Sherbourne this week. 11 mums and babies, one big brother, one grandma and one four legged friend! We were quite the pram posse! We enjoyed meandering through the woods looking at the sculptures, taking in the snowdrops, stopping at the village shop and sloshing through a few puddles.
Only one person in the group had done this walk before, so it was lovely to be able to introduce so many to such a great walk in their locality.
We walk each Tuesday at 1.00, in a different location each week, depending on the forecast. The walks are in, or very close to, West Oxfordshire. Full details can be found at www.birthbabybalance.co.uk
Weโ€™d love to welcome you and your baby/child along - itโ€™s a great way to meet new mums, stretch your legs, get outside, learn new walks and look after your mental health. Mothering can be lonely, but not when youโ€™re walking and talking!

Walk and Talk at Blenheim today. A bit drizzly, but lovely to get out for a leg stretch, a chat and some fresh air. Ten mums and babies, ranging from 5 weeks to seven months. And one gorgeous little four-legged friend!
The Kings Arms in Woodstock kindly opened their dining room for us, so we could finish the walk with coffees and plenty of space to park all the prams. Thank you to the team there ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

The weather may have been grey and drizzly, but we had a lovely time at our first Walk and Talk of 2026 โค๏ธ! 8 mums and babies, ranging from one month to nearly one year old ๐Ÿฅฐ.

Walk and Talk is our weekly opportunity to get outside with your baby and meet other local mums. The location changes each week, depending on the forecast. The next few weeks are likely to be along paved roads, as there is so much rainy weather coming up, so hopefully we wonโ€™t get too muddy ๐ŸŒง๏ธโ˜”๏ธ

Full details about how the group works can be found here: https://www.birthbabybalance.co.uk/walking-and-talking-groups

We have a dedicated WhatsApp group where we announce the location of the walk the weekend just before it. Then if youโ€™d like to join us, you just need to book your place on the website so that we know how many are coming, and who to expect. We donโ€™t want to set off without everyone there!

The walks take place in or near Witney, and include routes in Charlbury, Carterton, Aston, Blenheim, Shipton-under-Wychwood, and Ducklington. The walks are pram friendly, unless we say otherwise.

Partners, grandparents, dogs, older siblings are all welcome at the walks - the price is per family, not per person.

Weโ€™d love to welcome you and your baby there! Hope to see you next week x

January is nearly over - hooray ๐ŸŽ‰! And that means that Walking and Talking is about to resume - double hooray ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰!

We start back next week, on Tuesday 3rd Feb at 1pm. Join us each week for a pram friendly walk, in or somewhere near Witney. We decide on the location of the walk the weekend before it, depending on the forecast, and then announce it on our dedicated WhatsApp group. Then you just need to book your place before the Monday evening, so that we know how many people to wait for.

This is a lovely way to get out of the house, blow away the cobwebs, meet other new mums (and dads sometimes too!), discover local walks, get some gentle exercise and look after your mental health. Where possible we end the walk at a coffee shop - we've definitely earned some tea and cake ๐Ÿซ–๐Ÿฐ!

Partners, grandparents, older siblings and dogs are always welcome too.

Find out more and join the WhatsApp group here: https://www.birthbabybalance.co.uk/walking-and-talking-groups

We look forward to seeing you and your baby next week and beyond!

Before and after! This is an antenatal group I taught back in the summer, finally all managing to get together for a Christmas celebration in December. From due-date order to arrival-date order there was not much change - it is always fun to see what order the babies decide to arrive in!

I have a new antenatal group starting this week, and am excited to meet 8 sets of expectant parents, with all their hopes, questions, worries, curiosity etc etc.

If you're due from late March-late June, I have a few spaces left on both my next Empowered Birth course and Comprehensive Antenatal course, each in Witney. Come and get informed, make friends, and feel confident and well prepared for labour and birth. Find out more here: https://www.birthbabybalance.co.uk/antenatal-courses

Saturday night had a fabulously full moon, which worked its magic for a family I was supporting as a doula. We had a beautiful homebirth with the Christmas tree lights twinkling near the pool as the baby made their way into the world.
The parents were such a strong team, totally connected to each other, so I largely kept my distance as I did not want to interrupt the bubble they created around themselves. We had amazing midwives present who kept in the background as much as possible, and totally trusted the process, and just let it unfold as it needed to.
Most of my time was spent boiling pans and kettles of water, as the hot water tank ran dry long before the pool was full! But we got there in the end ๐Ÿฅฐ
Many congratulations to the new family - such a strong mama, such a loving and supportive papa, such a gorgeous baba โค๏ธโค๏ธ

Happy New Year everyone! New year, new courses starting, which is exciting!

Next week, we have a 6 week baby massage course beginning on Thursday 15th, from 1.30-3.00 in Witney. Baby massage is a lovely thing to do with your baby, as it enhances bonding, improves sleep and relaxation, can reduce crying and abdominal pain, and works on all the major systems in a baby's body - digestive, circulatory, immune, language, respiratory etc. It is also a lot of fun, and gives you a chance to meet a group of new mums with babies of a similar age. The ideal time to start learning to massage your baby is when they are between 8 and 14 weeks old. The benefit of learning when babies are a little less mobile is that they get used to the massage and realise how lovely it is, and then lie still for it even when they are good at rolling/crawling, as they know what it is and look forward to it.
This course can be booked here: https://www.birthbabybalance.co.uk/baby-massage

We also have a 2 hour Infant and Family First Aid course on Tuesday 20th January from 11-1. You are welcome to bring babes in arms to this workshop. It is facilitated by a paramedic assistant, and covers topics including CPR, head injuries, burns and scalds, bleeding, choking, febrile convulsions and more.
It can give you great peace of mind if your baby/toddler is unwell or has an accident, and it can be particularly reassuring to know that your first aid skills are up to date if you are approaching weaning with your baby, especially regarding choking.
You are welcome to bring your baby to the session, and it is open to anyone who might be involved in caring for your baby - your partner, a grandparent etc.
You can find out more and book on here: https://www.birthbabybalance.co.uk/first-aid-courses

If you are pregnant, due from late March-late May, and looking for antenatal classes, then we have our next Empowered Birth course starting on 5th Feb, which still has a few spaces available. Find out more and reserve your place here: https://www.birthbabybalance.co.uk/empowered-antenatal-courses

And Baby Group starts back this Friday morning at the Part and Parcel pub in Witney. No need to book, just turn up any time between 10.30 and 12.00 with your under-one, and come and meet other mums with little ones. A warm welcome awaits you there.

We look forward to seeing you and your baby (or bump!) soon xx
