✨🎅 A Festive Outing for Our Residents! 🎅✨

Last Saturday, our residents Bruce, Ray and Elvira, along with Abi from our Activities Team, were delighted to attend the annual Christmas party hosted by Silver Friends in Woking. 💛 This wonderful charity supports older adults who may experience loneliness, offering friendship and connection. 🤝✨

The event was full of Christmas cheer! 🎅
Everyone enjoyed a tasty three-course meal, thoughtful gift bags 🎁, and fantastic entertainment from Johnny, whose Elvis performance had the room smiling and tapping along. 🎶💃

It was lovely to see our residents socialising and making special memories — a true highlight of the season. ❄️❤️

🎄✨ Elf Day at Princess Christian Care Centre! ✨🎄
Our Home was bursting with festive fun as residents enjoyed games, cheerful activities and plenty of giggles. And of course… our very own naughty elf – Carol! 🧝‍♀️ – kept everyone on their toes, popping up to cause cheeky mischief, throwing indoor snowballs and spreading joyful chaos wherever she went! ❄️😂

The celebrations didn’t stop there… 🎶💃
We were treated to an amazing live performance from Jimmy, whose upbeat songs had everyone clapping, dancing and singing along. His energy wrapped the whole day in non-stop festive cheer and made it a celebration to remember. ✨❤️

✨ A shining presence at the Surrey Care Awards 2025 ✨

Princess Christian Care Centre made a remarkable impression at the Surrey Care Awards 2025 on Friday 14 November. Held at the stunning Denbies Wine Estate in Dorking, the annual event honours excellence, dedication and innovation in the county’s care sector.

Nellsar Care Homes were proud to be an Emerald Sponsor and Princess Christian were delighted to attend as finalists in both the 'Innovation in Technology' and 'Care Worker of the Year'. Although the Home did not claim the win in the Innovation category this time, being shortlisted demonstrated its remarkable commitment to modernisation and technological advancement.

✨ A heartfelt win: Care Worker of the Year ✨

One of the night’s most emotional highlights was the well-deserved win for Yessica, who was crowned Care Worker of the Year 2025. Since joining Princess Christian in 2019, Yessica has been a much-loved presence within the Home’s dementia community, bringing compassion, creativity and reassurance to residents and their families.

Mario Taherian, Home Manager, said: “We’re so incredibly proud of Yessica. She brings kindness, calm and professionalism to everything she does, and her dedication to our residents, particularly those with complex needs, is inspiring. Her award recognises the breadth of what she brings to her role – from introducing tailored therapy techniques, to supporting new team members, to staying beyond her shifts to ensure residents are settled and comfortable. Her actions truly embody Nellsar’s values and it’s a real pleasure to see her recognised in this way.”

Last week, we proudly marked Remembrance Day at Princess Christian Care Home with a day of reflection and heartfelt tribute 🌺. The morning began with a short but meaningful service, followed by a moving two-minute silence at 11am to honour and remember all those who served and sacrificed for our freedom.

In the afternoon, we were delighted to welcome the wonderfully talented Rosie, who performed a nostalgic selection of wartime classics dressed in her authentic service-style outfit 🎙️. Her beautiful voice and themed performance brought back fond memories and created a warm atmosphere.

We were also pleased to be joined by our local BusBuddies friends, whose presence made the occasion even more special. It was a day of unity and gratitude — one that truly brought our community together 🚐.

Our residents at Princess Christian Care Home recently enjoyed a delightful afternoon of pizza making — an activity that was as creative as it was delicious 😋! They started by spreading tomato sauce, sprinkling generous helpings of cheese, and chose their favourite toppings — including ham and sweetcorn — to make each pizza unique ✨. It was a wonderful way to spend time together, celebrating good food and the simple joy of cooking. Activities like these always bring a sense of fun and connection to our residents’ day. 😃🍕

🎄 On Wednesday 5 November, residents from our Bisley community at Princess Christian Care Home enjoyed a heart-warming visit to our local Squires Garden Centre. The group spent a lovely afternoon exploring the beautiful festive displays filled with twinkling lights, Christmas trees, ornaments and soft Santa decorations that brought smiles all round. Everyone enjoyed browsing the colourful gift displays and admiring the seasonal blooms. The trip was perfectly rounded off with a delicious slice of cake and a warm drink in the café – the ideal treat on a crisp autumn afternoon. What a joyful outing filled with plenty of festive spirit! 🍰

Halloween at Princess Christian Care Home was full of fun and just the right amount of spooky spirit! 👻 Our Home was beautifully decorated for the occasion with glowing pumpkins, autumn colours, cobwebs and plenty of playful Halloween touches that brought smiles to everyone’s faces 🕸️. Our residents had a wonderful time celebrating together, enjoying a lively afternoon filled with sweet treats and fantastic musical entertainment that had many singing along. There was a real buzz in the air as stories were shared and a few ghoulish dance moves even made an appearance! 🍬🎶

Things got a little creepy-crawly at Princess Christian Care Home last week as we welcomed some scaly and slimy guests for a special Halloween-themed reptile visit! 🎃 Our residents were thrilled (and a little nervous!) to meet an amazing selection of creatures, including a snake, African land snails, hissing cockroaches, a gecko and some giant millipedes 🐍🦎. At first, a few hesitant faces appeared but curiosity quickly took over. As everyone learned more about these fascinating animals and had the chance to hold or touch them, the nerves turned to excitement. The atmosphere was buzzing with intrigue and chatter and even our team members couldn’t resist joining in on the fun. It was a wonderfully spooky afternoon full of giggles – proving that you’re never too old to try something new! 😃

🙌🧑‍🍳We recently said a fond farewell to our talented Chef Catalin. Throughout his time 9 years with us, he has been an incredible asset — consistently delivering delicious, beautifully presented meals made with care and creativity. His professionalism, kindness and dedication to our residents and team have left a lasting impression. To mark the occasion, our Head Chef Cosmin created a special Chef Whites celebration cake which everyone enjoyed together as we reflected on the many happy memories shared in our kitchen. 👋🥹 Chef Catalin, thank you for your outstanding contribution and for always putting your heart into everything you do. Our Princess Christian Care Home Chef Assistant Eduard has once again been keeping on his toes and last month ran in the picturesque Windsor Half Marathon.

"I wanted to share an update on my recent race at the Windsor Half Marathon on Sunday 28 September, which I completed for the second time. The course, set in the beautiful Windsor Great Park, was both scenic and challenging, with rolling hills and stretches of gravel that tested both endurance and technique. The atmosphere was incredible, with fantastic support from spectators along the route. 😃

I'm pleased to report that I achieved a personal best time of 1 hour and 33 minutes, improving my previous time by five minutes. I'm now steadily progressing toward my ultimate 2025 goal of finishing under 90 minutes. ⌚️

It’s a real honour to wear the Nellsar logo on my running vest as I continue to push my limits and represent our Care Home community. My recent improvements are the result of structured training, including speed sessions – often the toughest part of the routine but essential for progress. As with many things in life, consistency and hard work are key, both in sport and beyond.🏅

From a nutrition standpoint, I’ve been focusing on proper fuelling and recovery, particularly the importance of carbohydrates before and after runs to optimise performance and muscle repair.🍞

I’m incredibly grateful for the support I receive from my colleagues at Princess Christian. Their encouragement before each race genuinely motivates me to give my best (and not let them down!). Huge thanks to them all. It truly means a lot and keeps me inspired to keep going, improving, and maybe one day even competing for first place!"

Well done, Eduard! Keep up the great work – we’re all very proud of you! 🏃🙌

Princess Christian – an outstanding centre of excellence

An outstanding centre of excellence providing person-centred care for elderly people with nursing needs or those who have been diagnosed with dementia or related illnesses. Princess Christian Care Centre is located in the peaceful setting of Stafford Lake in the heart of the Surrey countryside. Close to Woking and the villages of Bisley and Knaphill, we are very much part of the local community.

We are a large, modern care home comprised of three specialist units (Bisley, Pirbright and Knaphill), each with their own separate facilities, lounges and kitchens and all bedrooms have ensuite facilities. We also have an in-house hair salon. Our bright and spacious lounges overlook the courtyard and gardens and provide the perfect setting for relaxing, taking part in activities or simply spending time with family and friends who are welcome to visit at any time.

Famed for our amazing food and dining, Princess Christian is extremely proud to have received an overall rating of ‘Outstanding’ from their CQC inspection in January 2020 – something that only 4% of UK Care Homes have managed to achieve. The CQC report highlights the Home’s outstanding person-centred care, responsive and knowledgeable staff, and their exceptional end-of-life care and support for both residents and their families.

Princess Christian Care Centre boasts the Investors in People Gold award and is Platinum Accredited by the Gold Standards Framework – the hallmark of superior person-centred end of life care.
