Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a complete and holistic system of medicine that considers the mental, emotional and physical aspects of the individual. It concentrates on the whole person as an individual not simply the disease or ailment and helps to restore healthy and vitality. Homeopathy comes from the Greek, 'homo' meaning similar and 'pathos' meaning suffering. The main principle of homeopathy is 'like cures like' (similia similibus curentur) which states that any substance causing symptoms to appear in a healthy person may help the same symptoms shown in a sick person. It was pioneered in the 18th century by Dr Samuel Hahnemann, a German physician. Homeopathy uses substances from plant and mineral origins that have been ultra- diluted and succussed, making them non- toxic and non-addictive and therefore available to all. The remedies are in the form of small pillules or liquid that stimulates the body to heal itself and return to a state of healthy balance. Homeopathy has a wide application from first aid and acute illnesses; headaches, sore throats to chronic illnesses; eczema, IBS, anxiety. It is a gentle and effective way of treating those health issues that will simply not go away. It has been enthusiastically used by the British Royal family for 100's of years. It is recommended to maintain a relationship with a GP or specialist. Reflexology

Reflexology is an ancient and non-invasive therapy that compliments the stresses of our busy lives. It dates back to Ancient Egypt, India and China but was first brought to the 'West' as zone therapy in 1913 by Dr Fitzgerald. He learned reflex areas on the feet and hands were linked to other areas in the body within the same zone. His discoveries were developed further in the 1930's by Eunice Ingham into what is now known as Reflexology. Using finger and thumb pressure moving over specific points of the feet, the body is encouraged to relax thereby promoting a sense of well-being. It promotes an improved blood circulation, nervous, endocrine and lymphatic system. In this way it assists the body's own natural healing energies and encourages the body to eliminate toxins and an accumulation of waste products thereby aiding a gentle return to a healthy natural balance. Reflexology works on the feet to assist healing on the body as a whole not solely on the presenting symptoms of the individual. Reflexologists do not claim to cure, diagnose or prescribe and should not be used as an alternative to seeking medical advice.

Copied from a fellow homeopath. A great post illustrating the effectiveness of homeopathy where healing can not be put down to the placebo effect.

A friend in Scotland last week said she was amazed at the speed a regular visiting fox was cured of Mange after she gave it Arsenicum and Sulphur! She had low expectation of it working. Then today, an article by Dr Michael Fitzpatrick in the Telegraph reported the following
“I have always been sceptical of claims by advocates of homeopathy for the efficacy of their potions in treating animals where, unlike among human patients, the placebo effect cannot be invoked as an explanation. But I have been impressed by my wife’s successful treatment of a very mangy fox – a regular visitor to our garden – with Arsenicum Alb. and Sulphur 30c.

After a couple of weeks of adding a few drops of this potion – provided by the National Fox Welfare Society – to some dog food, a healthy looking growth of fur has appeared over a previously denuded and evidently inflamed abdomen. His conjunctivitis, apparently a common feature of infection with the sarcoptic mange mite, has also improved, though he has yet to recover a bushy tail.”

10 Best Homoeopathic Medicines for Hypertension

March 3, 2021 by Dr. Harsh Goel

Blood pressure is the lateral pressure exerted by the blood on arteries. When this goes beyond the usual pressure, it becomes Hypertension or High Blood Pressure. This can lead to major health complications and raise the risk of heart disease, kidney failure, stroke or even death.
It is important to keep blood pressure under control to reduce the risk of grievous conditions which may develop because of high blood pressure.

Measuring Blood Pressure

Blood pressure of an individual is measured by an instrument called sphygmomanometer. Normally, high blood pressure does not present any symptoms. The only way to find out if you have high blood pressure is to visit a health care provider and get it checked, or measure it yourself at regular intervals. In the absence of symptoms, high blood pressure can cause damage to vital organs like heart, brain, eyes, kidneys etc.

OpenStax Anatomy and Physiology

Screening of hypertension should start at 18-19 years of age.
When the blood pressure remains consistently high, it burdens the heart to pump harder, leading to serious health problems.
Indians are hit by elevated blood pressure at a younger age than people in western countries. According to a study, nearly one in every five young adults in India has high blood pressure. Nearly half of all adults in the United States have high blood pressure, but this fact is not known to all.
When the heart beats or contracts, blood pumps from the heart into the arteries, and exerts pressure on the arterial walls. This is the time when blood pressure is the highest. It is called Systolic blood pressure. Between the beats, the heart remains at rest or heart muscles relax, at this time the blood pressure falls. This is called Diastolic pressure.

Range of Blood Pressure

Blood pressure is measured in mm Hg

There are two different types of high blood pressure

Primary or essential hypertension

Secondary hypertension

Primary High Blood Pressure

This is also known as essential blood pressure. It is the most common type and found in the majority of people. It is difficult to identify its cause and this type of hypertension progresses over time with age.

Secondary High Blood Pressure

Secondary blood pressure can be seen in those people who are treated for another medical disorder. The medication or the medical disorder is the cause of high blood pressure. It occurs more suddenly than the primary hypertension and when the disorder is treated and the medication is stopped, the patient usually recovers or gets better. Secondary hypertension can be seen often among pregnant women and patients of kidney disease or a heart disorder.

Symptoms

When the blood pressure is very high, one may experience:

Headache

Nosebleed

Uneasiness in the chest

Difficulty in breathing

Palpitation and irregular heart beat

Blood in urine

Derivative work of Mikael Häggström

Important Risk Factors

To***co chewing – It speeds up the heart rate that leads to high blood pressure

Cigarette smoking – Ni****ne in ci******es causes the blood pressure to rise. Passive cigarette smoking can also lead to high blood pressure.

Deficient physical activity may lead to elevated blood pressure

Diabetes is one of the causing factors of high blood pressure

Obesity / being overweight can be a contributing factor in high blood pressure

Sleep disorder – Lack of sleep may result in elevated blood pressure (hypertension)

Stress and anxiety – Staying continuously in stress and anxiety may raise the blood pressure

Alcohol consumption – Too much alcohol consumption may lead to high blood pressure

Eating unhealthy foods – food with high content of salt may raise blood pressure as junk foods usually contain trans fats and saturated fat and higher sodium or salt which leads to high blood pressure

Family history – There is an increased risk that you will get high blood pressure if your parents or other immediate blood relatives have it

Age – Our vascular system (circulatory system) alters as we age. The elasticity of arteries reduces and they get stiffer; that causes an increase in blood pressure. But children may also suffer from high blood pressure.

Homoeopathic Medicines for High Blood Pressure

Homoeopathic medicines can help keep high blood pressure in check, when accompanied by proper diet management and exercise. These medicines are safe for long term use, since they are made from natural plant sources. Those who have been diagnosed with hypertension recently and are not yet reliant on conventional medicines find Homoeopathic medicines particularly beneficial. However, even if the patient has already been taking allopathic medicines for high blood pressure, he/she can take homoeopathic medicines alongside, without discontinuing the allopathic medication all at once. Once the blood pressure has stabilised and come under control, the patient can switch entirely to Homoeopathic medicines.
