• Take a moment to pause and breathe deeply

We have some exciting news to share about the Shifa Network.

Shifa has been a wonderful part of the Catalyst Support family, providing a safe, friendly and culturally sensitive space for ethnically diverse women in Surrey to build their confidence, wellbeing and independence. From ESOL classes to yoga to one-to-one support, the team has made a real and lasting difference to many women's lives.

We're delighted to share that Shifa is now moving forward as its own Community Interest Company (CIC) - a step that reflects the team's incredible dedication and their deep roots in the community they serve.

Shifa services will be temporarily paused from 1 April while the new organisation gets set up. Everyone currently supported by Shifa is being contacted directly.

We're so proud of everything Shifa has achieved and we're cheering them on every step of the way.

With World Bipolar Day approaching, we’re taking a moment to challenge some of the common myths around bipolar disorder.

Misunderstandings and stereotypes can make it harder for people to talk openly about their experiences or seek support.

The reality is that bipolar disorder is a complex mental health condition and everyone’s experience is different.

By learning more and challenging these misconceptions, we can help create communities that are more understanding, supportive and inclusive.

If you or someone you care about is struggling with their mental health, support is available here in Surrey.

This week is Neurodiversity Celebration Week 🧠✨

It’s a chance to recognise and celebrate the many different ways our brains work.

Around 1 in 7 people in the UK are neurodivergent, yet many myths and misunderstandings still exist. These misconceptions can lead to stigma, lack of support and people feeling misunderstood.

Neurodiversity reminds us that there is no single “right” way for a brain to work. Different ways of thinking, learning and experiencing the world are a natural part of human diversity.

By raising awareness and encouraging open conversations across Surrey, we can help create communities where everyone feels understood, supported and valued.

This Neurodiversity Celebration Week, let’s continue to:

✨ Challenge myths
✨ Reduce stigma
✨ Celebrate different ways of thinking

💬 What’s something you’ve learned about neurodiversity?

Celebrating 115 Years of International Women’s Day (1911–2026) 💜

For over a century, women have been raising their voices, breaking barriers and fighting for equality. While progress has been made, many women still face serious challenges every day.

This International Women’s Day, we honour the strength and resilience of women everywhere — and reaffirm our commitment to ensuring no woman has to face these challenges alone.

If you or someone you know needs support, reach out. We are here.

Ahead of Self Injury Awareness Day, we’re sharing simple ways we can all help reduce stigma and support those who may be struggling.

🧠 Start with understanding — Self-injury is often a coping strategy for overwhelming feelings, not attention-seeking.

💬 Choose your language carefully — Words matter.
Instead of: "Why would you do that?"
Try: "I'm here if you want to talk."

👂 Listen more than you speak — Sometimes the most powerful support is simply being present and hearing someone out without trying to fix everything.

🤝 Create safe spaces — Let people know they can talk without fear of shock, shame, or punishment.

💙 Remember: Recovery looks different for everyone — There is no "right way" or timeline.

This Self Injury Awareness Day, be part of the change.

Small actions. Big impact.

🔗 If you or someone you know needs support, please reach out to a trusted professional or local support service.

Did you know…

👉 Around 1 in 50 people in the UK are estimated to be living with an eating disorder.

👉 Eating disorders have among the highest death rates of any mental health condition.

👉 Eating disorders impact people of all genders, ages, ethnicities and body sizes. There is no single "type" of person who struggles.

👉 On average, people can live with symptoms for years before seeking help.

With early intervention and compassionate care, many people do recover.

Support makes a real difference. What can WE do?

✔️ Learn the signs
✔️ Speak compassionately about food and bodies
✔️ Encourage seeking professional support
✔️ Share accurate information

🔗 If you’re concerned about yourself or someone else, reaching out to a GP or specialist support service is an important first step.
