A Clinical Pharmacist is another qualified member of a GP surgery team.

You’ll be referred to a Clinical Pharmacist so they can decide which medicines will work best for you – or check the ones you already take – especially if you have a long-term condition or several conditions.

Here at our practice, we have a Clinical Pharmacist plus other healthcare professionals with expert skills and knowledge who work alongside your GP. Being referred to one of our healthcare professionals means you’ll still be treated by someone with the right skills and knowledge for your problem or condition. It will always be your choice but means you may not need to wait to see your GP and may be seen sooner!

πŸ‘©β€βš•οΈ What is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP)?

An Advanced Nurse Practitioner is a highly skilled nurse with advanced training (often Master’s level) who can assess, diagnose, treat and manage a wide range of health conditions β€” much like a GP.

What can an ANP do?
🩺 Assess & diagnose – take medical histories, examine patients, request and interpret tests.
πŸ’Š Prescribe medication – most ANPs are independent prescribers.
πŸ“ Create treatment plans – manage long-term conditions like asthma, diabetes or COPD.
⚑ Provide urgent care – minor illnesses, infections, injuries and same-day problems.
πŸ₯ Carry out procedures – e.g., wound care, cervical screening, joint injections (depending on training).

🀝 Offer holistic, patient-centred support – time to explain, advise and guide your care.
ANPs are a vital part of our clinical team, helping you access expert care quickly and safely.
