👋 Meet Our Team – Gemma Hendry, Physiotherapist

This week’s spotlight is on Gemma Hendry, who joined Nuffield Health Woking Hospital in 2024. Gemma specialises in sports injury diagnosis, rehabilitation, and the management of chronic conditions such as back, shoulder, and knee pain.

With a background in both private practice and high‑level sport, Gemma has worked with elite athletes and international teams, bringing a wealth of experience to her role. She collaborates closely with consultants and fellow physiotherapists to deliver the highest standard of patient care.

Outside of work, Gemma is a keen gymnast, enjoys weight training, and loves walking her rescue dog.

🦿 Half a Century of Mako Success with Mr James Platt

On Friday 28th November, our hip and knee orthopaedic surgeon, Mr James Platt, marked a major milestone at Nuffield Health Woking Hospital — his 50th robotic orthopaedic procedure.

This achievement also saw him complete his very first all‑robotic surgery list, bringing his total number of robotic procedures to 53. To celebrate the occasion, Elise Murphy, a representative from Stryker, kindly baked a delicious chocolate cake which was shared and enjoyed by Mr Platt’s theatre team and all staff working in theatres that day.

👋 Meet Our Team – Deb Boyd, Hospital Director

Our spotlight this week is on our Hospital Director, Deb Boyd, who joined us in May. She brings extensive healthcare experience from New Zealand and Australia.

Deb has relocated from Auckland, New Zealand having previously worked as CEO of Ormiston Surgical and Endoscopy Ltd ( a modern private surgical hospital with 6 theatres and 2 procedure rooms). Prior to this Deb was CEO of Auckland Eye Ltd for 6 years. AEL is a private Ophthalmology company that provides private medical and surgical services in a multisite capacity.

Deb has a clinical background as a registered nurse in New Zealand and has since studied Business Administration completing a Masters in Health Services Management. Deb loves technology and was part of the board of HiNZ (Health Informatics New Zealand) for several years prior to relocation to the UK.

Outside of work Deb lives with her husband Alistair and they enjoy travel. Their children and grandchildren all live in the UK.
