โ€œSometimes we should express our gratitude for the small and simple things like the scent of the rain, the taste of your favorite food, or the sound of a loved one's voice.โ€ - Joseph B. Wirthlin

Gratitude can be found for the seemingly smallest of things and create the biggest waves of changeโ€ฆ ๐ŸŒŠ

โœ๏ธ Journal prompt: create your own Gratitude โ˜€๏ธ by finding a few unexpected things you are grateful for.

If you'd like, give it a go everyday for a week and see what you come up with.

You just might be surprised at how much you have to be grateful for ๐Ÿ’›

Wow, one week into 2023 already! How has it been for you? Generally January can feel a little flat with all the sparkle and festivities of Christmas now a distant memory. Maybe your new years resolutions have failed already ๐Ÿ˜ž. Perhaps you are feeling a little lonely. Blue Monday is looming on the horizon. We have the power to change all this. I know it can be difficult because believe it or not I have days when I don't feel like doing anything at all. That's ok too but it's important that we don't allow this to become a habit and days doing nothing turn into weeks or even months. If you are someone who needs to do something with friends and they are not available, why not be courageous and try doing something alone? Although it will feel odd at first and maybe not as much fun as sharing something with your loved ones, you may start to enjoy it. Over ten years ago, I was desperate for a holiday but had no-one to go with. I bit the bullet and booked a week away in Spain. The hotel was lovely, weather glorious and the beaches were amazing but I found evening meals difficult. Some very kind people invited me to join them although I did feel like I was intruding on their time together. It was then that I decided to look for activity breaks and found walking and yoga breaks through Meetup and joined several of these around the UK. The great thing about an activity break or holiday is that most people are there on their own and you don't feel like the odd one out! Even better news is that everyone eats together so there isn't that awkward feeling of eating alone or taking a book or your phone as your dining companion!! I have been off trekking in the Himalayas, took a flight to see Mt Everest (I was never going to climb it ๐Ÿคฃ and have travelled on numerous yoga retreats too. The power of community really is key and finding joy in whatever you are doing. I went to see the latest Tom Hanks movie A Man Called Otto yesterday and although it was very emotional the value in being connected to those around you (in this case Otto's neighbours) was immeasurable. Although I live alone, I do have great friends, wonderful neighbours and an amazing yoga community who are like a very special family to me. I always feel so uplifted to be in their presence each week. I am thankful that I am also able to offer a monthly workshop of 2 hours which gives me time to share my love of yoga with others. These are an absolute joy to teach and it feels like we are getting an enormous hug from the world and from each other. If any of you are free on Saturday 14th January at 1330 then please get in touch wendy@littlebirdyoga.org or www.littlebirdyoga.org I would love to spend time with you ###๐Ÿ˜˜
This year, get out there, find something (or someone!) you love. Volunteer, join a group, share your skills, get outside - the world needs people like you ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ

Amazing as these shapes are, this is something that prevents people joining a yoga class ๐Ÿ˜ข. It isn't about the shapes we make, what we look like on the mat and how athletic we are - it is about how yoga makes us feel. There is something for everyone, no matter what age we are, what shape our body is and if we have any injuries or restrictions in our body - if we are breathing, we can practice yoga. This is why I am offering a FREE CLASS on Monday 3rd October @ 1045am.๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ Yoga has changed my life in so many ways and I would love for others to experience what has been transformational for me. It doesn't happen overnight, but a regular practice can truly reap rewards. You don't need expensive equipment; fancy clothes and you can also choose to practice at home. If you would like to join me, please visit www.littlebirdyoga.org or email wendy@littlebirdyoga.org for more information - what's not to love about a freebie!!!

I am beyond excited to announce that I am starting Mummy & Baby Yoga classes again. They will be held on Tuesdays at 11am at the Sarvanga Yoga Studio starting on 20 September 2022. The first term (6 classes) is now available to book online at www.littlebirdyoga.org and suitable from when you have had your post natal check. The 2 babies shown below started with me at 8 weeks old and it was a delight to see them progress each week right through to 11 months!! Any questions, please get in touch wendy@littlebirdyoga.org. Also, if you know of any new Mum's who are keen to get out and about with their babies whilst doing something that is so beneficial for body and mind please share this post. As we start to leave the summer behind and the days get shorter it's important that we don't end up going into hibernation!! After class, The Grange Chocolate Cafe is also great to visit for a little social interaction and yummy coffee and cake!! Looking forward to welcoming little baby yogis and their mummies very soon ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ™๐Ÿคฑ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’•

I have been on a quest to declutter my world. Not only in terms of all the stuff I have accumulated over the years but also slowing things down and not cramming so many activities in. All this has been so much easier since turning yoga into my new found career๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ. When we slow things down we can be more mindful and truly focus on the things that truly matter in life. Having travelled all over the world, those people with the least possessions and a simplified life always seem the most joyful๐Ÿ™‚. I have recently discovered the Vinted app and have been selling things online but also donating to my local charity shop. What I didn't realised is that charities can claim gift aid on your donation when they sell which equates to 25p in every pound. What's not to love about that!!! Have a great week - I'm off now to declutter some more ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚

Hey Guys the days are passing by so quickly I completely forgot to share that my next yoga workshops are a journey through The Chakra System!!! We are kicking off this exciting journey with the root chakra next Saturday 3 September @ 1330. If you think this is all a bit weird and not for you - think again!! We all have these little wheels of energy located in our bodies and quite often these can become blocked or misaligned which can result in physical and emotional problems for us. The root chakra is responsible for us feeling grounded in our lives and provides us with the sense of security and stability to withstand challenges that we face in life (seeing the latest info on the energy prices is enough to trigger imbalance in our root chakra ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ) I would love to spend time with you next Saturday. For more information please visit www.littlebirdyoga.org or email wendy@littlebirdyoga.org ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ•‰๐Ÿค๐Ÿค๐Ÿค

Hey Friends, it's been a while since I posted! I woke this August morning to the unfamiliar sound of torrential rain which was such a change from the heatwave we have all experienced recently. I put on my very fetching (not!) raincoat this morning as I navigated my car through massive puddles to the studio and onto my mat!! This week I have placed my teaching mat in a different location at the studio and it has given me a different perspective and outlook from my teaching space and has enabled me to see all of my students as everyone has been in the front row! It has been really interesting to see my students reactions as they see me in a different space and for some, they have rolled out their mats and have then realised that they are looking at me from a different angle๐Ÿ˜†! This got me thinking about habits and routines and how we often prefer what we are used to, the order in which we do things and in many cases, we are unwilling to change. We all know of someone who goes to the same restaurants, on the same holiday each year, takes the same journey to work each day, eats the same lunch and maybe walks their dog in the same park as well as watches the same tv programmes and listens to the same radio show 24/7/365!!! It may sound boring but they like what they like and feel safe with these decisions. Watch what happens when the favourite restaurant closes, maybe the holiday isn't available, the route to work is blocked or the tv stops working!! The trouble is, nothing stays the same forever and our ability to adapt to change is what keeps us confident and knowing that everything will turn out ok - it is not the end of the world! Eleanor Roosevelt once said - "If life were predictable it would cease to be life and be without flavor".๐Ÿ™‚ How true is this statement? If the picture below depicts your daily routine how about mixing up the order a little - you might even enjoy it?? If any of you remember the movie Forrest Gump - he said "Life is like a box of chocolates - you never know what your gonna get!"๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜†
Have a fabulous Bank Holiday my lovelies - take care ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ˜˜
