💛 A little Valentine’s Day story…

I was reading earlier about why we actually celebrate Valentine’s Day and thought I’d share, because I didn’t really know the story myself!

Valentine’s Day is named after St Valentine, who is said to have secretly married couples when it wasn’t allowed, because he believed people should be able to be with the person they loved. Over time, the day became linked with love and romance.

But love doesn’t just mean couples — it’s also about friendship, kindness, family and simply letting people know they’re cared for.

And that feels especially important at this time of year, when some people might be feeling a bit lonely. A small message or visit can mean the world.

So here’s your little reminder to check in on someone this Valentine’s Day — it might make their whole week. 💛

🔑 Key safes — not just for care visits 🔑

Many of the people we support have a key safe outside their home so carers can enter safely for visits.

But key safes aren’t only helpful when you have care in place — they can be really useful for anyone, especially if you live alone or have health concerns.

In an emergency, trusted family members, neighbours or emergency services can access the home quickly without needing to force entry or search for spare keys.

They’re secure, simple to use, and give both families and clients peace of mind.

If you or a loved one have ever worried about what would happen in an emergency, a key safe is definitely something worth considering. 💛

Who doesn't love fish and chips! 😋

We've already posted about The Ship Inn, Wokingham and their free hot drinks for the elderly and you know what.....we're going to give them another shout-out and a massive hug.

Why? Because they have teamed up with GoodOaks Homecare and now, on the first Wednesday of each month, they will be holding a dementia friendly fish and chips lunch. 🐟🍟 This offers a free fish and chip lunch along with a soft drink to guests and their carers. How lovely is that? 💜💚💜

The first lunch is on Wednesday 4th February from 12noon to 1.30pm
