Lower back pain is something we treat regularly at the clinic but we're also a big believer in preventative exercises to stop lower back pain becoming too severe.
So, we're going to be sharing some of our favourite exercises. The next exercise is the knee to chest It's benefits for your lower back include:

Benefits of the knee-to-chest stretch
Stretches lower back muscles: Elongates the muscles of the lower back, which helps relieve tension and pain.

Improves flexibility: Increases flexibility in the lower back and hips, which can help reduce stiffness.

Opens joints: Helps open the joints of the lower back and hips.

Reduces pressure on the spine: Gently distracts the vertebrae, which can provide relief for some types of back pain.

Improves stability and range of motion: Can improve lumbar stability and increase the range of motion in the spine.

Beneficial for specific conditions: Can provide relief for those with sciatica, arthritis, or stiffness from prolonged sitting.

Improves spinal mobility: The exercise gently moves the spine through flexion and extension, which helps loosen the joints and increases flexibility.
Reduces pressure on discs: By improving the space between the vertebrae, it can help relieve pressure on a herniated disc.

Alleviates muscle spasms: The gentle movement can help to reduce muscle spasms that may be contributing to back pain.

Aids in fluid exchange: For those experiencing pain after sleeping, the movement can help pump fluid out of the spinal discs, which can build up overnight.

Acts as a low-load warm-up: It's an excellent way to prepare the spine for more strenuous activity by promoting movement without high impact or strain.

Can desensitize nerves: The exercise is sometimes used to help desensitize lower back nerves through a process called nerve flossing.

So, we're going to be sharing some of our favourite exercises. Starting with the Cobra the Cobra is great for the following:

Stretches and strengthens back muscles: The pose gently extends the spine and stretches the muscles of the back, abdomen, and chest, which helps to release tension.

Improves spinal mobility and posture: By lifting the chest and arching the spine, the exercise can improve flexibility and strengthen the core, which supports the spine and can lead to better posture.

Promotes blood flow: The stretch increases blood flow to the spine and surrounding muscles, which can aid in recovery and pain relief.

Can help with sciatica: Practicing the pose may soothe sciatica by applying gentle pressure to the lower back.

Reduces stress and anxiety: Yoga, including the cobra pose, is associated with reduced stress and anxiety, which can be a significant factor in chronic pain.
