🌟 Working Together Works: Group Support & Young People’s Wellbeing 🌟
💬 “When young people join group work programmes — whether that’s to improve social skills, reduce stress and anxiety, or build emotional regulation — their overall wellbeing improves in real ways.”
And there’s strong UK research to back it up 👇
🧠 The evidence:
YouthLink Scotland found that 86% of young people who took part in group youth work reported improved confidence, relationships and wellbeing.
🔗 YouthLink Scotland – Impact of Youth Work on Wellbeing
University of Oxford research showed that group-based CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) is one of the most effective ways to help children and young people reduce anxiety and build resilience.
🔗 Oxford Research on Group Therapy for Young People
The National Youth Agency (NYA) found that structured, relationship-based group activities in schools and communities help young people develop life skills, feel safer, and improve their wellbeing.
🔗 NYA Research on Youth Work and Schools
💬 Why group support works:
✅ Peer support: Young people realise they’re not alone with their challenges — being around peers who ‘get it’ creates a sense of belonging and acceptance.
✅ Confidence through connection: Regular communication and participation in group discussions build self-belief, social confidence, and the courage to express themselves.
✅ Practical coping skills: Young people learn and practise real-life strategies alongside their peers — seeing others model healthy coping behaviours helps them build their own toolkit for managing stress, emotions, and everyday challenges.
✅ Safe spaces: Skilled facilitators and supportive groups create an environment where young people feel heard, respected and empowered.
✅ Resilience: Through these shared experiences, young people develop emotional strength and a stronger sense of self.
💙 In short:
Group work isn’t just about reducing anxiety — it’s about helping young people thrive. 🌱
When they connect, share and support one another, their wellbeing grows — in real, measurable ways.

💧 Calling All Builders & Roofing Experts! 🧰
We need a little community magic! ✨
Here at Base 25, we’re proud to support vulnerable children and young people across our community — but right now, we’ve got a bit of a problem above our café area. Our roof drainage system isn’t working as it should, and we’re looking for advice or hands-on help from local builders or roofing professionals to get it sorted.
If your company is looking for a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) opportunity that makes a real difference, this could be a fantastic way to lend a hand. 🙌
Your support will help us keep our space safe, warm, and welcoming for the young people who rely on us every day.
Together, we can make sure every drop of rain goes where it should — and every young person continues to have a place to belong. 💙
