❗️Important update of opening hours for the Wellbeing Hub❗️
💚 Base 25 is increasing the opening times of its Wellbeing Hub Drop-In for young people in the lead up to Christmas. On Mon 22nd, Tues 23rd and Weds 24th Dec the Drop-in will be open for 11-25 year olds from 1:00-4:30pm at 29-31 Temple Street, WV2 4AN. Our Drop-in is a safe space for young people to share whatever is on their minds with trained mentors on hand to listen and advise. See flyer for more details or to get in touch. ❤

Today marks the first day of the Orange Wolves campaign, part of the United Nations’ 16 Days of Activism to End Gender-Based Violence. 🟧🐺
Over the next 16 days, we join people around the world in raising awareness of all forms of domestic abuse — including physical abuse, coercive control, financial abuse, s*xual violence, female ge***al mutilation, forced marriage, so-called honour-based abuse, and stalking. This campaign also highlights the vital support available for victims and survivors.
Today, Base 25 staff are proudly standing together in orange to show our support and demonstrate the importance of speaking out, supporting survivors, and challenging all forms of gender-based violence.
Let’s come together as a community to raise awareness, promote safety, and work towards a future free from violence.
🟧 Together, we can make a difference.

🎉 A Huge Congratulations to Our New Counsellors at Base 25! 🎉
Last week we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming and training a fantastic group of student counsellors who will be completing their counselling placements with us. All of them are currently studying counselling at university, and throughout the training they showed such depth, curiosity, professionalism, and heart.
They were an absolute delight to work with — fully engaged, thoughtful, and ready to contribute in meaningful ways to the young people and communities we serve.
We’re excited to support them as they continue their journey into practice, and we feel incredibly fortunate to have them join the Base 25 team.
Here’s to the beginning of a rewarding and impactful placement experience. Welcome aboard! 🌟

🌟 Working Together Works: Group Support & Young People’s Wellbeing 🌟
💬 “When young people join group work programmes — whether that’s to improve social skills, reduce stress and anxiety, or build emotional regulation — their overall wellbeing improves in real ways.”
And there’s strong UK research to back it up 👇
🧠 The evidence:
YouthLink Scotland found that 86% of young people who took part in group youth work reported improved confidence, relationships and wellbeing.
🔗 YouthLink Scotland – Impact of Youth Work on Wellbeing
University of Oxford research showed that group-based CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) is one of the most effective ways to help children and young people reduce anxiety and build resilience.
🔗 Oxford Research on Group Therapy for Young People
The National Youth Agency (NYA) found that structured, relationship-based group activities in schools and communities help young people develop life skills, feel safer, and improve their wellbeing.
🔗 NYA Research on Youth Work and Schools
💬 Why group support works:
✅ Peer support: Young people realise they’re not alone with their challenges — being around peers who ‘get it’ creates a sense of belonging and acceptance.
✅ Confidence through connection: Regular communication and participation in group discussions build self-belief, social confidence, and the courage to express themselves.
✅ Practical coping skills: Young people learn and practise real-life strategies alongside their peers — seeing others model healthy coping behaviours helps them build their own toolkit for managing stress, emotions, and everyday challenges.
✅ Safe spaces: Skilled facilitators and supportive groups create an environment where young people feel heard, respected and empowered.
✅ Resilience: Through these shared experiences, young people develop emotional strength and a stronger sense of self.
💙 In short:
Group work isn’t just about reducing anxiety — it’s about helping young people thrive. 🌱
When they connect, share and support one another, their wellbeing grows — in real, measurable ways.

💧 Calling All Builders & Roofing Experts! 🧰
We need a little community magic! ✨
Here at Base 25, we’re proud to support vulnerable children and young people across our community — but right now, we’ve got a bit of a problem above our café area. Our roof drainage system isn’t working as it should, and we’re looking for advice or hands-on help from local builders or roofing professionals to get it sorted.
If your company is looking for a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) opportunity that makes a real difference, this could be a fantastic way to lend a hand. 🙌
Your support will help us keep our space safe, warm, and welcoming for the young people who rely on us every day.
Together, we can make sure every drop of rain goes where it should — and every young person continues to have a place to belong. 💙
👉 Please share this post to help us reach the right people!
