Sing your heart out!

We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Elise Evans of Anthem Voices back to Mind Body Lab for another singing workshop!

The last one was so much fun with laughter, connection and beautiful harmonies and, after a few months embracing new motherhood, Elise is returning to guide us once again.

📅 Sunday 25th January, 11am-1pm

This workshop will follow a similar format to the last, with new songs and the same uplifting, heart-opening tracks that allow us to sing our hearts out together.

Singing as part of a group is proven to release endorphins, regulate breathing, boost brain power and lift the spirit. Alongside learning practical vocal techniques, you’ll experience the pure magic of singing in harmony with others.

What you’ll explore:
• Vocal & physical warm-ups to support everyday speaking and singing
• Alignment & posture for ease and confidence
• Songs from different continents & languages
• Fun, accessible harmonies
• Skills for singing as part of a group: blending, dynamics & tone
• Feel-good, inspiring songs you’ll be humming all day
• Gentle ways to build confidence, calm and connection through your voice

All ages & abilities welcome. No experience needed, just a love of music and a willingness to sing!

Come and experience the joy of collective voice in our beautiful and harmonious space. 😌

£20 to come along.
Email info@mindbodylab.co.uk to book your place.

Claps for those approaching the end of week 1 of Veganuary. 👏👏👏

Here's tip number 2... Don't worry about protein!

Where do you get your protein? is possibly the most common question you're likely to be asked as a vegan. I'm here to tell you not to worry about protein, in fact, stop breaking your food up into macronutrients and micronutrients and just eat the food! Most people are overeating protein, especially animal protein, and their kidneys will ultimately pay the price. If you want to track anything, track how many different types of fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices you can eat in a week... aim for 60, anything above 30 is good! Tracking anything else will just lead to disordered eating patterns.

Remember, protein comes into existence through photosynthesis. Plants + sun = protein. There is no other way protein is made. If something has structure, it contains protein. Plants have protein. Plants ARE protein. Eat the darn plants!

Got any questions? Drop them in the comments. I'll throw more posts up like this throughout Veganuary! Hope they help!

Happy Veganuary!

Tip number 1... Eat more!

You're going to need to eat more food when you go vegan. Animal flesh and their secretions are calorie dense, meaning that when you go vegan, you're going to have to increase the amount of food on each plate, which is great because, in doing so, you're eating even more nourishing foods... more energy, more antioxidants, more fibre to grow your gut microbiota!

Think fuel! Rice (refined and wholegrain), potatoes (all the varieties!), corn (milled, popped), grains (the ones that suit you), beans and legumes (all the varieties).... let these be the centre of your plate... fill yourself up!

Got any questions? Drop them in the comments. I'll throw more posts up like this throughout Veganuary! Hope they help!

✨ New Teacher Announcement ✨

We’re so excited to welcome a wonderful new teacher to the Mind Body Lab family… Jen Carwardine 🤍

Jen will be teaching Vinyasa Flow on Tuesday mornings at 10am, starting 6th January and we honestly can’t wait for you to experience her classes.

Jen came to yoga while searching for more freedom, creativity and space in her work. On her mat, she discovered a sense of openness through connecting movement with breath - an experience that continues to shape the way she teaches today.

Her classes are light-hearted, creative and empowering, inviting you to truly take ownership of your practice. Rather than focusing heavily on alignment, Jen encourages exploration of sensation, curiosity and choice — allowing each practice to feel personal, intuitive and deeply embodied.

Jen qualified as a yoga teacher in 2016 and, alongside being a qualified personal trainer, brings a beautiful blend of yoga, strength training and mindful movement into her flows. Expect classes that feel fluid and spacious while keeping the body engaged, mobile and supported.
We’re so happy to have her joining our ranks 💫

Come and flow with Jen on Tuesdays at 10am from 6th Jan. If you’re quick, you can still use the discount code: MBL15 for 15% off all classes and class packages until midnight tonight!

Welcome to the dream team, Jen! 🫶🏼

I’ve met so many people who want to eat more plant-based…
but feel overwhelmed, confused, or unsure where to start.
Too many rules.
Too much noise.
And not enough simple, real-life guidance.
If this sounds like you, you’re not alone 🌱

My Story So Far...

I came to yoga around 2003 via the unusual route of philosophy after developing an interest in moral philosophy whilst studying Psychology at university in London. I was particularly interested in ancient teachings from India and the Far East and stumbled upon the practice of yoga. A random and interesting chat with a monk triggered a deep spiritual awakening in me and for a short time, I attended the ISKCON temple in Soho, practicing Bhakti Yoga and Kirtan.

I found the Ashtanga Yoga method after searching for a physical yoga practice and I loved the challenge the practice offered as well as the meditative state experienced through the structured sequence of postures. The practice also helped improve flexibility around my hips and shoulders after years of athletics in my youth and then triathlons in my 20s.

I relocated to Wolverhampton from London in 2015 to be with my partner, Ben, where we live simply in our quaint Victorian house with our tabby cat, Cheech and American Bulldog, Suki.

After years of taking from yoga and seeing the wonderful effect the practice had on my own life, both mentally and physically, I was compelled to start giving back. I travelled to Varkala, South India in 2016, to study Ashtanga Yoga at Abhinja Yoga & Meditation Centre and gain my 200 Hour Teacher Training Certification.
