Type 1 diabetes is where your body cannot make a hormone called insulin. This causes your blood sugar to get too high.

Type 1 diabetes can happen at any age and if left undiagnosed, it can be fatal.

The most common symptoms are the 4 Ts: Toilet, Thirsty, Tired, Thinner.

If you think you or your child has any of these symptoms, ask for an urgent GP appointment or call 111.

Saskia’s brother Theo, who had been vaccinated, didn’t catch the virus — showing how well the MMR vaccine protects.

The MMR vaccine helps protect against measles, mumps and rubella, which can cause serious complications like meningitis, blindness and hearing loss.

It’s never too late to catch up. Even older children and adults can still be vaccinated.
