Happy Earth Day 🌍💚

We’re certainly taking this year’s theme, “Our Power, Our Planet,” to heart and doing our bit to protect the world around us.

We’ve been busy in our sensory garden getting our planters and Vegepods ready to grow our own fruits and vegetables 🍓🥕 Alongside this, we’ve been recycling where possible and getting creative by upcycling items to brighten and personalise our outdoor space ♻️🌼

It’s been a fantastic way to work together, learn new skills, and make a positive difference—no matter how small 🌱

Happy National Tea Day to all of our followers! ☕💛

We do love a good cup of tea here at Next Step. Using our PECS symbols, we choose our hot drinks and take it in turns to make a lovely cuppa for our friends – building independence and sharing special moments together.

“Brew more, do more” inspired us to get creative with our tea bags too! Once used and cooled, we removed the leaves and sprinkled them onto the plants in our sensory garden. A simple, sustainable way to help our plants grow stronger 🌱

It’s the little things that make our days so special.

On the menu for today’s Monday Lunch… toasties! 🥪✨

Our guys used the widget menus to choose their fillings, making their own choices before getting stuck into preparing the side dishes. They scrubbed, chopped and seasoned the potatoes to make wedges, shredded and mixed fresh salad ingredients, and then set to work creating their delicious toasties.
We had some great filling choices too – cheese & beans, ham & tomato, and even tuna 😊

Another fantastic activity promoting choice, independence and teamwork, before sitting down together to enjoy our culinary delights with friends.

Yesterday our team were busy completing Makaton training 🙌 The Makaton Charity

A big thank you to Janefor delivering such an informative and interactive session. It was a fantastic opportunity for our team to build confidence and develop new skills.

At Next Step, we’re committed to using a variety of communication methods to ensure we can support all of our members effectively and meet their individual needs.

Celebrating World Heritage Day 🇬🇧

This week we visited the beautiful National Memorial Arboretum. The weather was on our side, with sunshine all day allowing us to explore the stunning grounds and learn more about the incredible individuals who served our country.

After a busy day of discovery, we treated ourselves to the delights of the on-site café—enjoying hot drinks and ice creams—followed by a browse around the shop.

A fantastic day out, enjoyed by all ❤️

Today we’ve been celebrating one of our member’s birthdays 🎉

Thanks to their family, we were able to make the day extra special with a delicious cake 🎂 We enjoyed singing together before the birthday boy made his wish and blew out his candles.

Moments like these are what it’s all about—celebrating milestones, making memories, and sharing special occasions with friends 💙

At Next Step, group sessions are a big part of what we do—helping to build social skills, confidence, and create new experiences with friends 💙

Just as important are our 1:1 person-centred sessions, where individuals can enjoy activities tailored to their own interests. Recently, we visited Telford Centre, where everyone chose how they wanted to spend their time.

From enjoying the fresh air and outdoor space in the Telford Town Park, to exploring the shops, it was lovely to see everyone making their own choices and having meaningful experiences.

Today we’ve been getting our green fingers on celebrating National Gardening Day 🌱🌼

We’ve been busy in our sensory garden, filling our planters with a beautiful selection of flowers, bringing lots of colour and life to our outdoor space.

The fun didn’t stop there… we’ve also started our sunflower competition 🌻 Who will grow the tallest sunflower? We can’t wait to watch them grow!

Last week our Next Step Pizza Parlour was back open by popular demand… and it did not disappoint! 🍕✨

After choosing our favourite toppings, we got creative decorating our pizza takeaway boxes—there were some truly fantastic artistic designs on display! 🎨👏
Our chefs then headed into the kitchen to prepare and top the pizzas, while others worked hard laying the tables ready for service. Teamwork at its best! 💪

Wow… what tasty pizzas we created! Some lucky families even got to enjoy a slice (or two!) at home, while others got to admire our brilliant box designs instead 🤣

A fun, hands-on activity that brought out creativity, independence, and plenty of smiles all round 💙

Yesterday our Buddy Service had an absolute blast at Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live at the Utilita Arena Birmingham! 🚛💥 The energy, the noise, and those incredible stunts made it a day to remember for everyone involved.

We topped it all off with a well-earned lunch at Slim Chickens🍗—the perfect way to refuel after such an action-packed experience!

Our Buddy Sessions are all about providing meaningful one-to-one support, focusing on person-centred activities that each individual truly enjoys. Days like this show just how powerful those experiences can be 💙

Today is the 🐎 and we got into the spirit of things last week with our very own version of the big race!

Using equipment kindly loaned to us, we hosted our own horse racing game. It was a fun and inclusive activity where everyone got to choose their own horse and race to the finish line 🏁

We had lots of winners across the different races, but most importantly it was an activity enjoyed by all. Plenty of laughter, excitement and friendly competition throughout! 😊
