Healthwatch Wolverhampton

Healthwatch Wolverhampton An independent voice for the people of Wolverhampton, helping to shape and improve local NHS and social care services. What is Healthwatch?

Healthwatch is an independent consumer champion created to gather and represent the views of the public. Healthwatch plays a role at both national and local level and makes sure that the views of the public and people who use services are taken into account. An Influencer - We listen to your views, concerns and suggestions about services and use this information to help shape and improve them. A Supporter - We can provide information to help you make choices about the services you use. Complaints Advocacy - We can refer you to someone who will support you in making a complaint. Healthwatch Wolverhampton promises to:

Seek out people to discuss their local health and social care services. Use what they say say to help decision makers improve the quality of local services

Reflect the diversity of Wolverhampton’s population, including children and young people

Build on any example of good work that is being achieved
Work in partnership with services – not in opposition. Be represented on the Health and Wellbeing Board and ensure progress is achieved. The Healthwatch network has been created in response to the Health and Social Care Act 2012. It is funded by the Department of Health via Wolverhampton City Council. Healthwatch Wolverhampton is one of 152 local Healthwatch, with Healthwatch England providing representation at a national level.

Looking out for signs and symptoms of breast cancer can save your life. Make sure you check monthly and know what looks normal for you.

Signs to look for include:

• visible lump on armpit
• a lump in the breast
• dimpled or depressed skin
• swelling of all or part of breast
• ni**le changes inversion
• redness and heat
• skin irritation or texture change
• bloody discharge.

If any of the signs are there, go to your GP. It may be nothing, but if it is breast cancer, the earlier it’s diagnosed the better.

Keep an eye out for your breast screening letter if you are between 50 and 71 years old. Remember, early detection increases the chances of recovery.
