Lan Rui Yoga Yoga Classes, Private Yoga, Workshops, Yoga Retreats - Based in Woodbridge - Suffolk My classes are student centered.

I have been practicing yoga for over 15 years, and teaching for over 9 years. I find yoga a great way to release any stress or tension in the body whilst also calming my mind. Yoga is a comprehensive practice designed to increase flexibility, tone, strengthen the core, soothe the mind and nourish the soul. I believe in allowing each student time to develop in their own way. Variations and modifications are given if needed. I passionately believe and take pride in welcoming all students whether a beginner or an advanced practitioner. I aim to create a welcoming and fun environment for all. I enjoy making sure there are options for those that want to take it easier and also options for those that want to challenge themselves further in their practice. Qualifications

*Certified Natural Movement / MovNat Instructor (MCT)
*Certified Deep Tissue & Holistic Massage Therapist

Thoughts on my frosty & beautiful morning walk today โ„๏ธ

๐Ÿ’™If we criticise something about ourselves, then let's make it better

๐Ÿ’™Ask family and friends questions. Learn and understand people and build those relationships. Will be a massive gift to them and ourselves.

๐Ÿ’™Give people the benefit of the doubt. Everyone is owed a second chance, maybe not a third....

๐Ÿ’™To be 'successful', make your own defination of success. Every person's idea of success will be different.

๐Ÿ’™Enjoy doing 'nothing' or not much with people that you love and care for.

๐Ÿ’™Find your 'why' for living and nothing will stop you

๐Ÿ’™Cheapest therapy is to spend time with people who make you laugh and feel good.

๐Ÿ’™Lastly, go for a walk for gaining ideas and creativity. It empties the mind and then creates space for new things.

The question I asked myself today was did I want to experience some level of pain today...??

The quality of our lives are not determined by the quality of just our positive experiences, but the quality of our negative / challenging experiences.

To get better at dealing with negative experiences is to get better at dealing with life.

So, I did a little 10k run in the snowy and icy weather and it was beautiful.

If we want the benefits of something in life, we have to also want the costs associated with it.

Had some time today for a bit of creative play. This is so important for me, as a student and a teacher.

It helps me to experiment and try out new ideas so I can see how it feels & works, for me.

It also helped me to add to my little book of torture ๐Ÿ˜œ which is getting bigger day by day. I know how excited some of you will be to get back into your practice after holiday time ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿ˜˜

Hip mobility, strength, control & increasing end range work is tough but fun ๐Ÿ˜…

Remember, to improve flexibility, strength is required ๐Ÿ’ช they go hand in hand.

Group Classes are back to normal from next week. I'm looking forward to getting back to my more structured working week & routine. Hopefully, you are too ๐Ÿ˜˜

We had such an awesome & fun Christmas party at ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ„

Thank you to all 20 that made it last night. You are all very special and who I call my yoga party animals ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜

We enjoyed a delicious 3 course Xmas menu, had a lot of laughs, let our hair down, worked off the food & had a bit of a dance ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ˜€

Big thanks to all my students who have joined my yoga classes, workshops & Retreats with me this year. I appreciate all of you ๐Ÿ˜š๐Ÿงก

They are some of the nicest, positive & hard working people I know.

They self practice regularly and I get to travel and see them all a few times a year. We do usually have some play time at the end, which is fun!

Janet (2nd pic folding & 7th pic in headstand), I have taught for about 14 years ๐Ÿ˜ฏ she is 60 and amazing....as they all are honestly.

This is quite a good leg strength and flexibility builder, particularly for Middle splits / Box splits ๐ŸŽ‰

๐ŸฒAlign heels in one line with toes pointing out to the sides.

๐ŸฒKnees pointing in the same line as the toes as much as you can.

๐ŸฒDynamically, move right to left - 1 min
๐ŸฒHold to the right - 1 min
๐ŸฒHold to the left - 1 min
๐ŸฒHold to the centre - 1 min

Bonus round
๐Ÿ’ฅAdd in some twists 5-10 breaths each side

Feel thighs and legs burning ๐Ÿ”ฅ then you know you are working to your max (if you want to that is ๐Ÿ˜‰)

It's always a choice on whether or not you sacrifice the breath to achieve an asana.

I personally try to focus, nearly all of the time, on the breath as number 1 and movement as number 2.

Sometimes, it can be interesting to feel what it feels like when it is hard to breathe. Still helps us to learn and understand our bodies a bit more.

At that point, you either choose to stay there and feel unable to breathe or you let go a bit and do less and find the breath again or if it's extreme discomfort / pain, it's generally recommended to come out of the asana and return to the breath ๐Ÿ‘Œ

As I say, we always have a choice ๐Ÿ˜˜

Our Story

Ashtanga Vinyasa

A very dynamic and fast paced yoga founded by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore Yoga in India. When movement (Vinyasa), posture (Asana) and breath are used together, the energy carries the body smoothly and effortlessly. Each Vinyasa is supported either by an inhalation or an exhalation, thus creating a nice flow. Emphasis is on flow and intensity, and is incredibly exhilarating. While focusing on the breath, muscle contraction and the flow, an incredible heat and sweat is developed that is powerfully toning and invigorating.

Vinyasa Flow

My vinyasa flow class sequences vary each time. We create a focus on breathing and self energy while targeting specific areas of the body. The movements flow and the poses run together and become like a dance. The breath acts as an anchor to the movement as you flow from one pose to the next in time with an inhale or an exhale we can interpret this as a connection between movement and breath.
