❤️ Armistice Day ❤️
On Armistice Day, we want to share a story of remembrance from our carer Elaine, from our Bluebird Care Waltham Forest branch. 💙
Elaine is a proud member of the Royal British Legion and is extremely proud to wear a poppy each year in honour of those who served. 🌺
Remembrance Day for me is a moment of reflection - on my family above, but also on the many brave members of the forces and civilians who lost so much and sacrificed so much in the fear and darkness of the days ahead. 🕯️
We should all be thankful for their suffering, which gave us the freedom we live in today. 🙏
God bless them. 💖
I am immensely proud and honoured, especially at this time of year, to wear a poppy. 🌺
Today, I pay tribute to my Great Grandfather and Father, who both served bravely during the two wars. 🇬🇧
My father served in the RAF ✈️ as a Flight Sergeant based in Northolt. In 1941, he was sent to North Africa, where he followed the 8th Army through Africa and up through Italy 🇮🇹 until the end of the war. He was part of the ground crew, ensuring aircraft were ready to fly and safely tended to upon their return.
His medals include the 39–45 Star, Africa Star, Italy Star, Defence Medal, and the Victory Medal 🏅 - each one a lasting symbol of courage, sacrifice, and service.
With gratitude, he returned home to share his stories - and we remain forever thankful for his bravery, and for the suffering endured by so many to give us the freedom we have today. ❤️
We will remember them. 🌹
