Our Lovely Lynn has retired! 🥹

I am sure you will all agree that she will be dearly missed and we are forever grateful for all the support she has provided over the years 🥰

If you have any fond memories you would like to share, please leave them in the comments! We can’t wait to read them!

Our Team Leader, Lisa Dare wrote a lovely poem shared below 😍

An Ode to Lynn...

Words can't define how amazing you are,
Your energy lights a room like the brightest star.
Your presence has been constant in the team for years;
You've helped so many women overcome their fears.
A comforting word, a nurturing smile, a no-nonsense attitude is your authentic style.

Your passion for breastfeeding is clear to see.
Empowering women with their feeding journey.
So many women have a story to tell,
Of how you helped them to breastfeed well.
Thank you Lynn, for all that you've given.
And for the hundreds and thousands of miles that you've driven!
We are so lucky to have had your expertise, thank you for all the wonderful memories.

As much as we'll miss you, Lynn
(And we REALLY will)
We know adventures await you and you wont be sat still.
Salsa dancing, travelling, racketball and hiking;
Camping and glamping, volunteering and biking.
There is one job we know you will cherish above all, in the next few weeks, when you get THAT call;
Your grand-baby will be truly blessed, to have you as a grandma, you will be The Best! ❤️

Repost due to a scheduling error last week🙈

Happy World Breastfeeding in Public Day!

Remember, breastfeeding in public is protected by law💜

In the UK the Equality Act 2010 states that it is s*x discrimination to treat a woman unfavourably because she is breastfeeding.

In Scotland, breastfeeding is also protected by the Breastfeeding etc. (Scotland) Act 2005 under which it is an offence to stop someone in a public place from feeding their child, if under two, with milk. The legislation allows for fines for preventing breastfeeding in public places.

With Ramadan beginning this week, today we're sharing some information from our guest blog post - Supporting Breastfeeding During Ramadan.

"As peer supporters, we have great duty in supporting mums to feel empowered to achieve their goals by giving information so their decisions are informed. Supporting mothers during Ramadan is no different to helping mums reduce factors that may have a negative impact on their breast feeding or supply.

Things to consider are:

✨Mums will need to eat high nutrient dense food such as date, fruits and nuts to help replace the magnesium, zinc and potassium levels that may reduce during fasting.

✨Avoid drinking too many caffeinated drinks and replace with water, fresh fruits juice, herbal teas and green smoothies.

✨If a mum is fasting during the winter months which can fall between 10/12hrs of fasting, this is much easier as the sunset is much earlier and they have a longer period to eat and drinking during dawn. So really its like having a very late lunch.

For peer supporters who are not Muslim or who may not know much about Ramadan, it is imperative to keep in mind that choice should always be at the forefront of any breastfeeding journey and the support we provide will very much be based on an individual case by case basis. It’s also okay to say I’m not sure and signpost/refer mums to other sources for more information.

EDIT - Fasting while breastfeeding is not an expectation, but you can choose to if you wish, and it is safe for you to do so. If you are considering fasting while breastfeeding, you may find it helpful to talk a health professional.

Please remember, if you need breastfeeding support, our National Breastfeeding Helpline UK is available 24/7 💜
