📚 Celebrating World Book Day and International Women’s Day at St Stephens Care Home 💜

This week at St Stephen's Care Home , our wonderful residents and staff came together to celebrate both World Book Day and International Women’s Day. 🌸📖 Over several days, residents read and shared poetry and excerpts from novels written by influential female authors, exploring stories that inspire, educate, and celebrate women’s achievements

On one special afternoon, we were delighted to welcome Reverend Lindsey from the local St Stephen's Church Worcester to lead a church service. The visit sparked thoughtful and engaging conversations about the important roles women play in our community and their contributions to society, from careers to volunteering and family life 😄

This celebration gave residents the chance to connect with each other, reflect on history, and learn about inspiring women, while enjoying a joyful, shared experience. Everyone left feeling inspired, uplifted, and proud of the incredible women whose stories we celebrated together💜✨

This week at St Stephen's Care Home , our wonderful residents came together to celebrate the national flower of Wales, the daffodil. 🌼 They carefully displayed these beautiful flowers around the home so that everyone including residents, staff, and visitors could admire their vibrant colours and enjoy the cheerful atmosphere!

As part of this special celebration, the residents also repotted daffodil bulbs to grow in our garden, creating a tradition that will brighten our outdoor spaces every year. Our Chinese New Year of the Horse celebrations were filled with creativity, culture, and unforgettable moments 🐎✨
One of the highlights of the week was designing and creating magnificent dragon and horse dance costumes. Residents worked together to decorate and assemble the costumes, watching with pride as their hard work transformed into vibrant festival attire ready for the big performance 🐲🎭

Throughout the week we also made cherry blossom lanterns and homemade musical instruments, filling our home with colour, creativity, and anticipation for the grand finale 🌸🥁 The celebrations were enriched by exploring Chinese memorabilia such as a terracotta warrior, lion and dragon puppets, festival clothing and hats, and miniature theatre masks. These displays sparked wonderful conversations, especially with residents and relatives who had travelled to China and generously shared their personal experiences 🌏 💟

To make the week even more special, everyone enjoyed a Chinese tasting lunch complete with prawn crackers and Dragon Blood cocktails 🍜🍹 The celebrations ended with a spectacular horse and dragon dance that entertained residents and brought huge smiles all around. Many joined in enthusiastically, playing the percussion instruments they had made themselves, creating a joyful atmosphere full of music, movement, and shared celebration 🎶🐉

🤠🐎 What a rootin’-tootin’ time we’ve had here at St Stephen's Care Home 🐎🤠

To kick off our celebrations for the Chinese Year of the Horse, our home was transformed into a lively Wild West town filled with laughter, music and plenty of cowboy spirit. Residents and staff embraced the theme, coming together to celebrate the energy, strength and freedom that the Year of the Horse represents. 🏇✨

The day was packed with fun activities, including themed games and an exciting search for hidden “gold nuggets” using our very own Wild West treasure map 🗺️💰. There were smiles all around as everyone got involved, sharing stories, laughter and a little friendly competition along the way.

A true highlight of the celebration was a special musical performance from our wonderful staff member Ann Marie, who is an incredibly talented singer. She joined the fantastic The Orchard Band to perform for our residents, filling the room with beautiful music, toe-tapping tunes and even a bit of singing along. 🎶🤠 It was a truly heart-warming moment that made the occasion extra special for everyone.

Days like these are what make life at St Stephen’s so special, bringing people together, creating joyful memories and celebrating in style. 🐎✨

Last week we marked Shrove Tuesday in a fun way with a pancake flipping competition. There were a few unexpected and funny landings 😄

Jay represented the staff in our competition, going for the highest flip by far, while Charles, Michael, Brian and Jim were our resident champions, flipping pancakes with flair and style. 🏆

After all our efforts, we enjoyed well deserved delicious pancakes with a selection of toppings, served by our amazing chef. 🥞👏✨

All cowgirls and cowboys, it was party time at St Stephen's Care Home 🤠🎉 as our residents and team members came together for an afternoon full of music, movement, and smiles. The lounge was transformed into our very own dance hall as we welcomed The Orchard Band 🎶✨, who treated us to a fantastic live performance packed with upbeat, toe-tapping favourites.

From the very first song, the energy in the room was infectious. Residents were clapping along, tapping their feet, swaying to the rhythm, and even picking up instruments to join in the fun 🪇👏 Some couldn’t resist a little two-step and a spin around the floor 💃🕺, while others sang along with big smiles on their faces. The laughter, cheers, and applause truly showed how much everyone was enjoying the moment.

Events like this remind us how important music is for wellbeing, connection, and creating meaningful memories together 💖🎵. A huge thank you to The Orchard Band for bringing such warmth and vibrant energy into our home. We’re already counting down to the next dance party at St Stephen’s! 🎊✨

Love is in the air ❤️, beautifully blended with the calming aroma of lavender! 🤣 This Valentine's Day, we had a delightful time crafting heartfelt Valentine's cards and charming lavender bags for our loved ones. 💌🌿

We truly indulged ourselves, celebrating this special occasion with a sweet afternoon tea surrounded by laughter and love. The atmosphere was made even more magical with the enchanting melodies of Mandy playing her saxophone 🎷, creating a romantic backdrop for our gathering.

Moments like these remind us of the beauty of connection and care in our lives. Let's cherish every loving moment together! 💖

On 26th January, we celebrated Australian Day in style!
Our residents gathered to sample some iconic Australian treats, including fairy bread and lamington cake, right here in our home. Some were adventurous foodies- Kath, Janet, Jim, Rosemary, Joan Ray, Jeanne, Glenda, and Norman happily dug in and loved the cakes 🥰, while Jennifer, Brian, and Madge decided they weren’t fans 😂

Later on in the day we got inspired by Aboriginal patterns creating our artwork. We used it later to play the game - toss the cork practicing hand-eye coordination and gross motor skills in a fun and exciting way. We enjoyed relaxing with Australian themed aqua painting and painting whilst sharing some memories from trips to Australia as many of our residents visited this country.

The afternoon wasn’t just about tasting cakes and artwork, it was about coming together, having fun, and experiencing a little bit of Australian culture without leaving our home. Everyone enjoyed the cheerful atmosphere, the laughter, and the excitement of trying something new
