From Apprentice to Area Coordinator - Danielle's Bellcare Journey 💜

Danielle joined us here at Bellcare as an apprentice at 18 years old during the pandemic.

Just five years later, she is now an Area Coordinator, supporting adults with compassion, confidence, and dedication.

From building strong connections with service users to progressing through roles and gaining qualifications, Danielle’s story shows the meaningful career paths available in adult care.

💬 “Bellcare has not only given me a career, but also a purpose, and I am proud to be part of such a dedicated and compassionate organisation.” – Danielle

Service user Liz was treated to fish and chips recently by Debbie, our Quality & Compliance Manager. Debbie has supported Liz since 2008, and they make a great team! 😋

Although Liz isn’t able to get out in the same way as she used to, Debbie made sure she could still enjoy her favourite meal from Grasslot chippy in Maryport, followed by a good catch-up together.

Supporting people to enjoy the things they love, in ways that work for them, is what person-centred care is all about.

Happy First Day of Spring 🌼

There’s something special about this time of year; longer days, lighter evenings, and a fresh breeze in the air!

Spring isn’t just good for the soul, it’s great for your health too:
☀️ More daylight can boost your mood and help regulate sleep
🌿 Getting outside encourages gentle exercise and fresh air
🌸 Seeing nature coming back to life can reduce stress and improve wellbeing
🚶‍♀️ Even a short walk can lift energy levels and clear your mind

We are looking forward to getting out and about with our service users even more when it warms up!

Frankie from Flimby enjoyed a trip out with carer Luissa recently, starting with a visit to a local café, followed by a short walk. ☕

Getting out for a change of scenery and some fresh air is all part of staying active and connected to the community.

Service user Richard celebrated his 102nd birthday on the 1st March 🎁

Last Friday, we marked the occasion by treating Richard and his wife, Flora, to an afternoon tea, which they both thoroughly enjoyed in the comfort of their own home.

As you can tell, they were both over the moon!

What an incredible milestone - happy 102nd birthday, Richard! 🥰

Although International Women’s Day was yesterday, we’d still like to take a moment to recognise the incredible women across the Bellcare team. 💪

This year’s theme, “Give to Gain,” perfectly reflects the work our staff do every day - giving their time, care and compassion to support others, and in return helping to create stronger connections and happier days for the people we support.

Thank you to all the amazing women in our Bellcare family for everything you do. 💜

Muriel from Harrington doesn’t go out very often, but she does have a soft spot for carrot cake. 🥕🍰

Carer Kemi spent some time with Muriel at home, where they enjoyed a slice of carrot cake together and had a lovely chat. Sometimes it’s the simple moments that mean the most. 🥰

💜 Employee of the Month - February 💜

We are delighted to announce that our Employee of the Month for February is Jennifer Wallace!

Jennifer has been recognised for consistently going above and beyond for her service users. She truly has a big heart, and nothing is ever too much trouble. Her kindness, dedication and commitment to providing outstanding care make a real difference every single day.

Jennifer said 💬
"Thank you for the recognition - it means a lot. I'm proud to be part of a team that genuinely cares and goes the extra mile every day. It's the small moments, a smile, a thank you, that make this job special. I will continue to provide the highest standard of care for those who rely on us."

Congratulations, Jennifer, and thank you for all that you do! 🥰

Myth 3: “Having carers means family are no longer involved” ❌

The truth:✅
Homecare supports families... it doesn’t replace them.

We work alongside loved ones, easing pressure while keeping families involved in every decision, while giving them peace of mind that their family member is cared for in their own home.

John from Glasson recently requested a trip out to Dobbies in Carlisle, so Debbie, our Quality & Compliance Manager, took him for a drive, and they enjoyed lunch together. 🍴

Both Debbie and John are looking forward to getting out for a walk together when the cold, wet weather decides to go away!

Supporting the things people ask for - whether that’s a favourite place, a change of scenery, or simply getting out for the afternoon - is an important part of our approach to person-centred care. 🥰
