The people who live at Gateford Hill Care Home enjoyed a fantastic party to celebrate all of our achievements over the last few months, including achieving Good in all areas CQC rating!

We enjoyed Caribbean/ Reggae music courtesy of Shae-Love at Nottinghamshire Vintage Vocals, and we had an award ceremony to recognise outstanding work in different areas throughout the home. We enjoyed a variety of delicious food from around the world and was treated to a beautiful display of Belly dancing courtesy of Taste of Cairo. We then welcomed our dear friend Hilary Dennis-Madin who entertained us with a wonderful medley of popular hits throughout the years, and finished the night with the Hokey Kokey, which everyone enjoyed getting involved with.

The people who live at Gateford Hill Care Home were treated to a wonderful afternoon of entertainment, courtesy of the very talented guitarist Jamie Fox!

We all had a wonderful afternoon singing and dancing to songs ranging from The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Buddy Holly and the Everly Brothers. Everyone has so much fun!

To celebrate harvest festival and World Food Day, the people who live with us collected food and other essential items through donations from the staff and relatives. We then donated this to our local food bank to give back to those who need it in the local community.

This past week, the people who live at Gateford Hill learnt about and celebrated Diwali.

We started the week with the tradition of sharing sweets with a chocolate tasting experience. We then explored Indian music in our More... Movement sessions and used brightly coloured scarves to signify the bursts of colour used in traditional celebrations.

In arts and crafts, we created Rangoli sun catchers and Diyas lamps.

We finished the week in a fantastic Indian culture afternoon where we sampled beautiful Indian food and drink whilst watching videos on Traditional Indian dancing, and we learnt all about how and why Diwali is celebrated around the world.

Over the weekend, the people who live with us enjoyed a visit from our friend Brian, who entertained us with an afternoon of all of our favourite songs to sing along to.

Last week the people who live with us enjoyed holding a Macmillan Coffee Morning and raising £118.99 for the brilliant work that Macmillan does!

We’re proud to share that we have been rated ‘Good’ in all areas following our latest CQC inspection🏡

Inspectors highlighted significant improvements across all five key areas:
- Safe
- Effective
- Caring
- Responsive
- Well-led

After speaking to those living with us and relatives, inspectors reported that: “People told us that staff are kind and caring,” with one relative commenting: “They are wonderful.”

A huge well done to the entire team here at Gateford Hill!

We’re excited to announce that Gateford Hill Care Home will be hosting our Annual Christmas Market on Saturday 29th November at 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM!

A couple of ladies who live with us enjoyed a trip to Worksop crossing church to enjoy their monthly singing with dementia afternoon!

We had lots of More...Socialising fun making new friends from around the community and singing and dancing along to the talented Russell Weaver!

The people who live with us had a great time during our More...Creativity session as they enjoyed making musical instruments from recycled materials for day of arts!

We then had lots of fun using this in our More...Movement to music session in the afternoon.

The people who live with us visited the Idle Valley Nature Reserve.

Everyone enjoyed tea and cakes in the cafe overlooking the lake and surrounding countryside. There was even time for a little walk in the afternoon sunshine for More...Fresh Air!

For Country Music Day, the people who live with us enjoyed dressing up, learning about the history of country music, followed by an exciting More...Movement western workout and enjoying More...Fresh Air when the weather was good!
