With Mother’s Day coming up this weekend, we know this can be a very emotional and difficult time for many people.

For some, it’s a day of celebration. But for many others, it can bring up feelings of grief, loss, longing, or complicated memories.

You might be:

• Estranged from your mum
• Someone who experienced abuse from your mum
• Missing your mum who passed away too soon
• Wishing you were a mum
• A mum grieving the loss of a child
• Supporting a mum who is poorly or unwell

If this day feels heavy for you, please know you’re not alone. Your feelings are valid, and it’s okay if this coming weekend looks different for you.

Throughout this week we’ll be sharing supportive posts around this emotive subject, providing an online space for all the different experiences people have around Mother’s Day.

We will also have three support groups running this week for anyone who would like a safe space to talk, listen, or simply be around others who understand.

You don’t have to carry it on your own.

Today, on International Women’s Day, we want to take a moment to celebrate and thank two incredible women who play such an important role in Sam’s Name Charity – our amazing female trustees Gill and Rach💜

Gill has been a trustee since the very beginning of the charity. As Sam’s mum, she is deeply passionate about making sure his legacy and memory continue to make a difference. Gill works tirelessly to help make sure no man or woman ever feels alone again. She runs our Worksop Ladies Group and regularly attends meetings and events on behalf of the charity. The selfless way she has used her own pain to help and support others does not go unnoticed, and we are so grateful for everything she does.

Rach has been a trustee for just over two years and supports the charity with our marketing and PR. As a marketing and PR professional, she uses her skills to help amplify the work we do and reach more people who may need support. Rach is very passionate about mental health support, ending stigma, and encouraging people to open up and talk about their problems.

We are truly lucky to have such strong, compassionate women helping to guide and support the charity. Today we celebrate them and thank them for everything they do.

💜 Our next Ladies Group takes place on Thursday 19th March at 7pm at The Edge in Worksop.
We’d love to see you there.

🎙️ New Podcast Episode 🎙️

⭐️ Workplace positivity ⭐️

During a recent Health & Wellbeing event at B&Q Distribution Centre in Worksop, we spoke to a wide range of employees about maintaining positivity and morale in a workplace, the importance of discussing mental health with your colleagues and tips on how to improve your wellbeing.

We were also spoke to other organisations from the Nottinghamshire region such as Notts Health and Aurora Centre, for their opinions on discussing mental health and mood boosters as well as asking them about what services they provide and how you can get in contact with them.

A Heartfelt Thank You 💙

We would like to say a huge and heartfelt thank you to Jeanette Tomlinson for her incredibly thoughtful and generous support of In Sam’s Name.

While enjoying a coach trip with Johnsons Coaches, Jeanette kindly organised a raffle, putting together some beautiful hampers and raffle prizes herself. To think of us while on holiday, and to go out of her way to raise funds from fellow holidaymakers, is such a wonderful and selfless thing to do.

Thanks to Jeanette’s kindness — and the generosity of everyone on the coach — she raised an amazing £100 for our charity. This will make a real difference to the people and families we support.

Jeanette also chose to donate funds to a dementia club as well, another truly worthwhile cause. Kindness and community spirit like this is what keeps so many people going.

People who go out of their way to help us and the people we support mean more to us than words can say.

Thank you, Jeanette, and thank you to everyone who supported the raffle on your coach trip. Your generosity and thoughtfulness are hugely appreciated.

Thank you,
The Trustees of In Sam’s Name 💙
