CALORIE DEFICIT
CALORIE DEFICIT
In the fitness/weight loss world that’s all we hear these days, mainly due to James Smith. And I would say 95% of the time you can’t go wrong with that method, but there are exceptions.
I’ve recently been helping a lady who gave me this information:
🔵Age - 48
🔵Weight - 15 stone +
🔵Not losing any weight
🔵Exercise Routine - 6 days a week, mornings cardio, evenings weights
🔵Daily Calorie Intake - 1500 Calories
🔵Hormonal issues, Menopausal and her body doesn’t regulate Insulin properly
Red Flags
🔴 1500 calories is way too low for someone who weighs over 15 stone and exercises 12 times a week
🔴 Most Olympic Athletes don’t train 12 times a week, so neither should you.
🔴That amount of training, with a lack on nutrients, will leave your nervous system absolutely shot. If the nervous system doesn’t function properly, the bodies other systems will not function properly either
🔴 HIIT sessions are a big thing these days, but if you’re doing a HIIT session properly, you shouldn’t be doing them everyday, especially in your 40’s.
So what have we done to try and get this lady to lose weight
🟢 4 Weights Sessions a week
🟢 Do these sessions every other day, allowing the body, to rest, repair and react.
🟢 1 hour walks on rest days, keeping the heart rate low.
🟢 A high protein diet, with a small amount of carbs, with lots of vegetables and berries.
