The family of Joan Owen are saddened to advise of her passing on 10th November 2025. This beautiful lady was very much loved by family and friends and will be sadly missed. Her funeral will take place on Thursday 4th December 2025, 10am at St John's Church, Carlton-in-Lindrick, followed by a burial at Carlton in Lindrick Cemetery. No flowers please, but donations in her memory will be welcomed for The Children's Society.

We fall silent today for Armistice Day, but do you know why?

The Armistice, an agreement to end the fighting of the First World War as a prelude to peace negotiations, began at 11am on 11 November 1918. Armistice is Latin for to stand (still) arms. To this day we mark Armistice Day around the United Kingdom with two minutes silence at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month.

Today, Rememrance Day, is a national opportunity to remember the service and sacrifice of those who have defended our freedom. Thank you to everyone who supported the poppy appeal and who will give honour today at the memorial services around the country.

Mark enjoyed supporting the poppy appeal this week with fundraising efforts. It was also wonderful to chat to everyone and the donations were gratefully received. Mark will be back at the Asda on Sandy Lane this coming Monday from 10 - 12, so please do stop and say hello. The entire team of volunteers welcome your support for this important charity.
