🌈 It’s Transgender Awareness Week! (13th–19th November) 🌈
…with Transgender Day of Remembrance on 20th November 💜
A week to celebrate, uplift, and listen to our transgender and gender non-conforming friends, neighbours, and colleagues. It’s about visibility, understanding, and a good dose of kindness.
Want to be a cracking ally? Here’s how 👇
💬 Respect pronouns – it’s not hard, and it makes a world of difference.
👂 Listen to trans voices – no one knows better than the people living it.
🧠 Learn a bit more – things like s*x assigned at birth, gender identity, and gender expression are all worth wrapping your head around.
Pop the kettle on, have a read, and become the ally you’d want to have:
Let’s make the UK a place where everyone can be their authentic selves – no exceptions. 🏳️‍⚧️💖

🫁 Feeling a bit chesty lately? Your lungs might be throwing a strop. Here's the low‑down straight from the NHS: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/chest-infection/

🔍 What’s going on?
A chest infection is when your lungs or big airways decide to misbehave. They often follow a cold or flu, and the usual trouble‑makers include:
➡️A chesty cough (hello, green or yellow mucus)
➡️Wheezing or shortness of breath
➡️Chest pain or discomfort
➡️High temperature, aching muscles, tiredness

🛌 What can you do yourself?
➡️Rest up and drink plenty of water — helps loosen the muck.
➡️Sleep with an extra pillow to raise your head and make breathing easier.
➡️Use painkillers for aching muscles or high temps (always check if they’re safe for you).
➡️Try a hot lemon‑and‑honey drink (if age & situation allow).

💊 But here’s a top tip you’ll thank us for later:
Before you ring the GP surgery, pop into your local pharmacy first. A friendly pharmacist can help with cough medicines, give you advice.

📞 But do see a GP if…
➡️You feel really unwell or things are getting worse.
➡️You’re coughing up blood or blood‑stained mucus.
➡️The cough lasts more than 3 weeks.
➡️You’re pregnant, over 65, or have a weakened immune system, or an existing lung/heart/kidney condition.

So, if your chest is staging a mutiny, speak to your local pharmacist first — they’ll give you the proper low‑down and might have you back to breathing freely in no time. 😉
Stay well, look after those lungs, and don’t let the cough boss you around!

Read about chest infections, including the symptoms, what you can do to treat it yourself, and how a pharmacist and GP can help. A chest infection will usually get better on its own in about 7 to 10 days.

🌟 It’s Anti-Bullying Week! 🌟
This year’s theme is ‘Power for Good’ – and no, it’s not just something out of a superhero film (although capes are optional 🦸‍♀️).
Every year, far too many children experience bullying — in person, online, or both. And when we stay silent, it keeps happening. So, this week, let’s all flex our Power for Good 💪 to speak up, stand together, and make kindness the loudest voice in the room (or on the group chat).
Did you know 40% of children were bullied last year? Whether it’s physical, verbal, emotional or discriminatory (like racist, homophobic or disability-related bullying), it all hurts — and it all needs to stop.
Let’s do our bit. Use your voice, share this post, and show that kindness always wins. 💛

🧦✨ Odd Socks Day – 10th November! ✨🧦

To kick off Anti-Bullying Week, schools (and even a few brave workplaces!) are donning odd socks to celebrate what makes each of us wonderfully unique. 💖
It’s a simple way to remind everyone that being different is exactly what makes life colourful — and kindness never goes out of style. 💫
So go on, wear your odd socks with pride and let’s make the world a little brighter (and a lot less matching)! 😄

💛 9th November – Social Media Kindness Day 💛
Social Media Kindness Day is our annual reminder that it costs nothing to be kind — online and off! 🌍✨
We completely understand that it can be frustrating when you can’t get an appointment straight away, or you’re waiting on a callback. Please know we’re doing our absolute best to help everyone while under huge pressure. Our team are people too (powered mainly by tea, biscuits, and determination ☕🍪), and we really do care about giving you the best service we can.
Sometimes, posts made in the heat of the moment can be hurtful — so if you’ve got a concern or something’s not quite right, please do speak directly to a member of our Senior Management Team. We’re always happy to listen and help. 💬
Let’s make kindness go viral this Social Media Kindness Day — because in a world where you can be anything… be kind 💛

🤧 Got the sniffles? Meet your friendly neighbourhood cold virus! 🤧
Feeling a bit bunged up, sneezy, or a tad peaky? You may have caught a classic cold.
Here’s the plan:
✅ Rest up – give your body a chance to fight back.
✅ Drink lots – water & warm drinks are your allies.
✅ Steam & honey‑lemon – for that blocked nose & scratchy throat.
✅ Avoid antibiotics – colds are caused by viruses, not bacteria, so antibiotics won’t help.
🛍️ But wait! Before you pick up the phone to your GP surgery…
Pop into your local pharmacy first. Their team can advise you on what’s best for your symptoms (should you need a decongestant nasal spray, some paracetamol or ibuprofen, or just tips to get better quicker). The NHS says “A pharmacist can advise you on the best medicine …”
📞 Only call your GP surgery if:
your temperature’s been high for more than 3 days, or
your symptoms are getting steadily worse, or
the cold lasts more than 10 days + you’re not improving.
🧼 And lastly… keep those sneezes & coughs in check: wash your hands often, use a tissue, don’t keep sharing the tea mug with Mr Cold‑virus.
📍 For the full info, check out: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/common-cold/
Stay comfy, stay hydrated, and remember: the pharmacy is your first stop! 💙

Find out about the common cold, including what the symptoms are, how it's spread, how it's treated, and how you can prevent it.

🚨 Did you know? In October alone, we had 308 patients not show up for their appointments! 😱 That’s 77 hours of appointment time going to waste. With our time already as scarce as a sunny day in the UK, we really hate to see this happening! 🌤️
This is our plea to you…
📞 Call the cancellation line
💌 Click the cancellation link on your reminder text
📱 Ring us directly
🏥 Pop in and see us
The sooner you tell us, the better – but honestly, any notice is brilliant. That way, we can try to fill those slots and help someone else in need.
We really appreciate your cooperation in helping us reduce the number of ‘Did Not Attend’ appointments. Together, we can save time, sanity, and maybe even a few cups of tea! ☕😉

🚨 Mouth Cancer Awareness: Don’t Ignore Your Gob! 🚨
Mouth (oral) cancer can sneak up anywhere in your mouth – but it often loves the side of your tongue or the floor of your mouth. Early diagnosis can be a real lifesaver! 🦷💪

👄 A mouth ulcer or sore that refuses to pack its bags after 3 weeks
🎨 Red or white patches that aren’t just “artistic flair”
😖 Persistent pain in your mouth or tongue
Early detection can really change lives – don’t just sit there grimacing, get it checked!

🎆 Hold the sparklers — fireworks advice coming in hot! 🎆
Thinking of lighting up the skies this season? Before you go “BOOM!”, make sure you stay on the right side of the law and keep things safe (and neighbour-friendly).
Here’s your quick guide straight from Adur & Worthing’s official advice
✅ The safest way to enjoy fireworks? Go to an organised display — sit back, relax, and let the pros do the hard bits. See upcoming displays on Time for Worthing: https://www.adur-worthing.gov.uk/environmental-health/pollution/air-quality-and-pollution/fireworks/ ✅ If you fancy organising your own, heed the Firework Code and keep all little ones supervised.
Want more? Hop over to the full fireworks safety page:

Let’s light the night — responsibly. 💥

🚨 Lung cancer doesn’t care who you are — it’s not picky! 🚨
This month, let’s get savvy about the signs and symptoms of lung cancer. Early detection can make a huge difference, and knowledge is your superpower. 💪
This video does a cracking job of explaining the two types of lung cancer, what to look out for, how it’s tested, staged, and treated:
https://youtu.be/n6TE-Nkws6Q
Remember, you don’t have to be a smoker to be affected. If you’ve noticed any of these pesky symptoms lasting more than three weeks, it’s worth booking a chat with your GP:
• Persistent cough
• Coughing up blood (not the fun kind!)
• Chest pain or shortness of breath
• Unexplained weight loss or fatigue
• Repeated chest infections
Early detection saves lives — don’t let your lungs play hard to get! 🚑❤️
