World Cancer Day means everything to me.
Ten years ago, I lost both my mum and my dad to cancer — just seven months apart. They were both only 61.
There isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t think about them. The things they’ve missed, the moments I wish I could share, the advice I’d still love to ask for. Cancer doesn’t just take lives — it leaves a space that never quite fills.
With me turning 55 this year, I can’t help but think about how young they really were. It’s a reminder that life is fragile, time is precious, and tomorrow is never guaranteed.
So today isn’t just about sadness — it’s about perspective.
It’s about making the most of every day I get.
It’s about loving harder.
Laughing louder.
Worrying less about the small stuff.
I’m so grateful for Anna, for our boys, and for our beautiful grandchildren. They are my reason to live fully, to stay healthy, and to squeeze every bit out of this life.
If you’ve lost someone to cancer, I’m thinking of you today. And if you haven’t — hold your people a little closer. Tell them you love them. Don’t wait.
Life is short. Love is everything. 💙
